、itain for further education. Britain has a well built educati on system. Compared to Chin a,it only takes stude nts one year to finish a master ' s course rather than three. Also, I can improve my English quickly by talking to native people, which helps me know British people and culture better,a

、s well as make me sta nd out whe n I apply for a job later in China. In additi on,I enjoy travelli ng a lot and Brita in is a country I would like to visit.2, I am well prepared for Britain. I started thinking about going to Britain for study in my third year of college. Since then,I have been searc

、hing for information about British culture and everything. For students from China, language can be the very first problem. I have bee n study ing En glish for more tha n 10 years. I chose En glish as my major in college and I passed the TEM8 (the highest grade for En glish majors) at the beg inning

、of the fourth year. Now,I am putt ing more effort in En glish by doing a lot of read in g,liste ning, speak ing and writing. As for a different culture in Britain,I get to know more and more both from books and from internet. I don' t think that will be a problem for me either.3, I should say most

、 of what I lear ned in China are practical. It was a bit hard for me to un dersta nd local people who have some sort of acce nt,for example Scottish. They have a very strong acce nt and some of the words they use are quite differe nt from En glish. For example,Scottish say “ AYE” a lot in stead of “

、 yes or “ yeah "and“ WEE in stead of “ small ” or “ little ” . Apart from the acce nt,I can un dersta nd most of what they say. After living in Britain for a while,my English has greatly improved. I did a lot of part time jobs whe n I was doing my mater' s .enjoyed talk ing with every one,bo

、th the people I worked with and customers I served. Practise makes perfect. Thanks to theexperience, I made huge progress in English.4, Yeah, I do. Wherever I go, I consider myself as a representative of China. I enjoy telling people things about China, such as culture, people, history and technolog

、y. Local people from Britain are interested in China, but they get to know China only from media and books, which sometimes hold a very negative attitude towards China. I think it is part of my responsibility to let people from the world know more facts about China instead of thinking of China in an

、 out-dated way.I go back to China once a year for holiday. I meet family, friends and relatives. They are very interested in Britain as well. I show them the pictures and videos I took in Britain. They have quite a few questions about Britain and British which I am happy to answer.5, There are not a

、s many culture shocks as I expected, to be honest. Or I should say they are just cultural differences. Chinese and British have big differences in eating habits. Chinese food is more about flavour. British food can be more about nutrition and time efficiency. Besides, communication is another aspect

、. It doesn' t only meanspeaking but also the relation between people. British people are straightforward most of the time. They will let you know directly what they are thinking, which is different from Chinese. One thing that I found a bit strange when I first came here is that people call each

、other by names. For example, I can not call anyone uncle or aunt if they are not my proper relatives. There was once when I called one of my close friends“ sisterlocal friends of mine took it as my proper sister living in Britain as well. After that, I understand what the reason was. There were a lo

For me, I used to think all the British men were gentlemen, all the couples in a relationship go half and half when they pay for dinners, and I thou

、ght England was Britain. Now I find those are not 100 % correct. Some guys in Britain can be rude too though there are only a minority of them. For couples, sometimes men pay for everything, and sometimes women. It can also happen that couples take turns to pay for dinners. Most importantly, Britain

、 is a kingdom which has three parts: England, Welsh and Scotland. So England is only a part of Britain. Most of the misunderstandings started when I was at college. Text books only gave me a general picture about Britain. After all, China and Britain are 10 hours' planeaway from each other.Briti

、sh have some misunderstandings about China too. There are still a lot of people who think that China is as poor as it was 20 years ago. They are surprised to see the skyscrapers in Shanghai and hi-tech Chinese products on TV.As I mentioned above, they only know China from a small number of channels.

、These channels do not always give people a whole picture of China. What British people see and know is only a tiny little bit of China -like a tip of an iceberg.7, yeah, tolerance is important. I have to get to know a whole different culture and get used to it if I want to live in Britain, which is

、true for every community. Eating, communication, transportation and working are all parts of this culture I am in. Inother words, culture is in everything.
