8、nto the muddy road, the two soldiers refused to stay with them and offer help, ignoring Henry's order, but to escape. In order to stop them, Henry killed one of - 1 -them.Without any help and because the bad weather, they had no choice but to discarded the truck, and walked to the appointed plac

9、e. One of the members was killed by Italian soldier, because they could not distinguish who was the enemy. They just saw the person died in agony, there was nothing they could do. Finally they caught up with the army, but unfortunately, Henry was recognized and arrested because of he was a lieutenan

10、t. The Italian military police executed those who was a officer but separated from the army. Henry was regarded as a spy for his American nationality and would be killed. He escaped.After he found Catherine, they went through all of the hardships and difficulties and fled to Switzerland where far aw

11、ay from the war. The settled down and started a new life, peaceful and quiet. They made new friends there and traveled many places. They lived a happy life as normal. Happy days did not last long. At hospital, their child was born dead, and then Catherine died from excessive loss of blood very soon,

12、 Henry had nothing except himself.In the story, a lot of innocent people was involved in the war and just was exploited by imperialist, no one knew the meaning of the endless war, the only thing they knew was that many young, lovey people were going to die everyday. Life disappeared momentary just l

At last, they saw many people dead and lost their heart finally.The love story between the two protagonists, Henry and Catherine, came into being on the background of the cruel war. At the begi

It was war that made them changed. Everyone yearns for love, but not every can have a happy ending. What Henry met w

18、s" in the title"A Farewell to Arms", including two meanings. First, it stands for weapon. Second for lover's arms, that's to say, it means love.
