At the age of 14, Sam was already smok ing his favorite brand of cigarettes, Marlboro. Although people have to be over 18 in America to buy cigarette
11、s, Sam knew of a few stores that sold cigarettes without check ing ide ntificati on. Sam decided to quit when he was 21 after discovering he had been coughing blood. He would get tired quickly, and he no ticed his teeth were gett ing really yellow. Before Sam quit, he would go through a pack of ciga
12、rettes a week. The pack of cigarettes usually cost him $5.25. As a way to en courage himself to stop smok ing, Sam decided to save his money every week. After two years, Sam took out all his money he had saved from not smoking, and bought a bicycle. As he started riding his bike more frequently, he
13、noticed that he didn t think about smoking anymore. He didn t want a cigarette when he went out with his friends that smoked. Unfortun ately, the non stop stress of moder n life means that your alarm system rarely shuts off. Over time, high levels of stres
16、s lead to serious health problems. Relaxati on tech niq ues are an esse ntial part of stress man ageme nt. Almost every one can ben efit from learning relaxati on tech niq ues, which may help you slow your breathi ng and focus your atte nti on on the here and now. Common relaxatio n tech niq ues in
17、clude tai chi and yoga. But there are more active ways of achieving relaxation. For example, walking outdoors or participating in a sports activity can be relaxing and help reduce stress. It doesn t matter which relaxation technique you choose. What matters is that you select a technique that works
