1、Comparison of Chinese and Western education system Western education never fails to fascinate Chinese students. Such scene can be seen in a Chinese class that students think: if only I was born in America, and I would study under that education system, pay not so much attention to marks! But by comp

2、arison, which is better?In case of education in family,though most Chinese families consist of three people, there are still grandparents who have duty to educate children. Nowadays, young parents who anticipate earning money usually go abroad, leaving children at home for their grandparents to look

3、 after. Bu t those grandparents often dont have a command of knowledge in a fast-changing high-tech world, thus hardly know how to look after a child properly, they always spoil the child. With time going on, the child becomes self-willed and self-centered. However, this is not the case in Western f

4、amily; we can scarcely see grandparents looking after children. In their view, the more protection a child gets the less ability to overcome difficulty they will have in the future. Although the importance of family education is being realized by more and more families, but in China, there are still

5、 some families which think of family education as simply knowledge education. Some parents pack childrens weekends with different kinds of subsidiary class, ignoring their personal development. As children grow, when they find their needs for their own personality conflict with what their parents ar

6、range, they will become rebellious and fight against their parents authority, making the family disharmonious. In western countries, parents let their children to select, they can do what they like, in their opinion, it is to lead children to learn how to use their own strengths to overcome difficul

7、ties very important. So we by no means can see children commit suicide after a failure in exam. In a word, western family education is more advanced than ours. And China and Western family education have Different ways of thinking :Americans encourage rationalism. Their family education praise ratio

8、nalism highly, which they treat as a basic principle to deal with family members and family affairs. Most of American parents consider the obligation of raising a child the same as the obligation to the society. It does stand not only in anindividual position but the social position. In Americans op

9、inions family education is considered as an obligation, so Americans never want to get something back from their children. They consider that they ought to go to the old peoples home. Of course, it is based on American perfect social security system and their culture. Chinese encourage affection whi

10、ch is considered to be the most important thing in Chinese society. Chinese family education, human relation is the base and emotion is the rule to deal with the relation of family. Chinese parents consider the children as their own private property, from the angle of their honor. Chinese parents ta

11、ke the greatest care of their children but with a conception of getting back something from their children. From this point of view, we can understand why more Chinese parents expect their children to be talented than American parents does. They put too much material gain in the aim of family educat

12、ion.As for school education, our education aims at training high-IQ students and examinees. As a result, many students personalities and imagination become restricted. In fact, knowledge is a 3D concept, we should let students know that knowledge comes from creation and it should be used in reality.

13、 In western countries, students are not measured by scores but by their independent character, creation and comprehensive ability. Chinese education pays emphasis on instruction in knowledge, but western education on students ability training. These two should communicate with each other as well as

14、be complement by another at this point.The imperial examination has successfully made Chinese people think that one exam could decide your whole life. And the whole society regards the diploma as very important, so the Chinese people think highly of the entrance exam to university. Thats why we alwa

15、ys see the students working hard before that exam and wandering streets, having nothing to do after that. In my opinion, illiterate in the future is not the person who dont have much knowledge, but who cant use the new knowledge in daily life. So we must improve our entrance exam system. In todays f

16、ast-changing world, we should pay emphasis not on the scores, but on the ability students have. Students ability is needed while a country is developing. But western education system concerned more on guiding. Guiding is the main concept of education wildlyused in western countries. It emphasizes th

17、e rights and respects of children, which is base on a trust motion. Schools provide students with fulfilled self-management, support them to control themselves. At home, parents see children as one equal member of the family; they have identical duty and responsibility for the family. Western childr

18、en have more freedom and private without much instruction; they are more persuaded by enlightening and leading. Westerners intend to offer children opportunities to develop themselves, discovering their potential specialties and abilities. They encourage children to study with interest under pleasur

19、e, doing what they want to do and trying the best they can. Thus western children are more responsible and confident; they have a higher grade of self-esteems because of the process of self-learning.On the other hand, self-management does not only depend on students themselves, they do need guidelines from parents and teachers. Guardians should help students to build up sufficiency and strength, also observe their grown to correct any mistakes and weakness.
