Near the city was a vocano called Vesuvius. 离城里不远有一座叫维苏威的火山。介词短语放句首,句子要完全倒装。这样的句子它的谓语动词通常为be, stand, lie, sit等。如:(1)At the end of the street stood a tall TV tower.(2)On the ground lay an old sick goat. 练习: (1)树下坐着一位老人。 _Under the tree sat an old man
2、._ (2)山脚下有个湖泊。 _At the foot of the mountain lies a lake. (3)门前有棵树。 _In front of the house stands a tree. 2. Unfortunately, all the people were buried alive, and so was the city!不幸的是,全城的人都被活埋了,整座城市也被掩埋了!<1> alive,live,living和lively的区别:Alive : “活着的,在世的,活着的,有活力的。”它是表语形容词,做定语时,放在修饰的名词之后做后置定语。He is
3、 the only man alive.他是唯一活着的人He was still alive when he reached the hospital.当他赶到医院时她还活着。Living :“ 活着的,生活的” 作定语放置名词前 Living fish _活鱼_ Living standard _生活水平_ Living condition _生活条件_ Make a living _谋生_ Earn ones living _谋生_Live: “现场直播的” the live football match现场直播的足球赛Lively : “生动的,活泼的,充满生机的”他有一种奇特的方法使他
4、教的课生动而有趣。He has a special way to make his class lively and interesting. <2> so引导的倒装句:so + 助动词 + 主语 前面所说的情况也适用于另外一个人或物。意为:“也是这样”“也是如此”。Eg:Jim is from the USA, and _so is Kate._.吉姆是美国人,凯特也是美国人。I have improved my spoken English this term, and so_has Tom_(Tom也是如此).I will study computer science nex
5、t term and so_will Tom_. *当if引导条件状语从句时,so引导的句子中应该用一般将来时。Eg: If you go to the cinema this evening, so will I.If she refuses to sign on the agreement, so _will he_.(他也拒绝)* neither / nor用法一样,意为“也不这样”。Jane doesnt like dancing, _nor / neither do I _.(我也不喜欢)Bob wasnt at school last Friday, _nor / neither
6、was Jack_.(杰克也没来) so it is / was with +另一个主语:跟so一样也意为“也是如此”但这个结构它前面的陈述可能会有两个或两个以上的分句。Eg: (1) Susan is a college student and works very hard. _So it is with Jack_. (杰克也是如此)(2) John likes Chinese but he is not good at it._So it is with Mary_.(玛丽也一样) so不引导倒装句的情况:表示肯定别人的想法或意见。So + 主语 + 助动词Eg:(1) -These
7、books are really well written. - _So they are_. “这些书确实写得很好。”“的确如此” (2)老师叫我放学后去见他,于是我就去了。Our teacher asked me to go and see him after school and _so I did_.3. So in 1860, the Italian archaeologist Giuseppe Fiorelli was made director of the Pompeii dig. (1) 使成为;使做当用作此意时。常接复合宾语(make+宾语+宾补)常用的有以下几种情况。 m
8、ake + obj.+ n. / adj. e.gWe have made him our monitor我们推选他为班长。The bad news made us sad这坏消息使我们悲伤。注意:当宾语是不定式短语或从句时,多用it作形式宾语。e.gI made it a condition that everybody must be present. 我提出条件,人人都要出席。This made it hard for me to control my-self这使我很难控制我自己。 make + obj. + do sthe.g. 他们让我复述这篇故事。 _They made me r
9、etell the story_.注意:在被动结构中,不定式要带“to”。e.g_I was made to retell the story_. make + obj. + v-ede.g奇怪的声音使孩子感到恐惧。The strange noise made the child _frightened_.通常情况下,make后的宾语是反身代词,作宾补的动词要用过去分词,即make oneself + v-ed ( heard,known,understood. )他提高嗓门使大家能听见他的声音。He raised his voice in order to make himself _hea
10、rd_.Will you please make yourself known to us in English? 间或也可由介词短语或从句构成复合宾语。e.gYou have made me what I am你已使我成了现在的这个样子。He would try to make himself of more important in the business他将设法使自己在这笔生意中更加举足轻重。(3) “make + n.” 结构make和表示动作的名词连用,表示动作或活动,该结构的含义实际上相当于该名词同义的动词。e.gmake a promise许诺,答应 make progress
