Muslim countries were making this inexpensive paper by 800, and it was introduced into Europe in about 1000. At the begin rung, an unpopular alterat
43、ive to writing sheets made from the skins of animals, rag paper was ideal for the new European printing presses, as it absorbed the oily ink required for the metal type.
