Measurement System WUYi zheng College of Mechanical Engineering HANGZHOU DIANZI University Hangzhou China 5935l6962 Abstract As we all know the temperature in the process of pig breeding is an important factor in determining the pigs health In recent years with the live pig breeding scaled and automationed artificial pigs body temperature measurement has become impractical and along with the rapid development of the non contact infrared temperature measurement technology the continuous improvement of equipment performance it s practical scope expands unceasingly the market share of which has risen steadily For pig breeding the noncontact temperature measurement system has the advantages of safe employment low cost having no influences on pigs growth etc This design adopts the 51 series single chip microcomputer as the main controller which is simple easy to use and has low cost and good stability This system is realized by Atmel company s AT89S52 SCM system USES Key words Infrared Temperature Measurement Single Chip Microcomputer Non contact I INTRODUCTION Temperature is the essential feature of the creatures living activities is also an important sign to observe whether the creature s physiological functions are normal or not Currently in the process of pig breeding technicians mainly contact the back of pigs ears to perceive their temperatures aimed at University Hangzhou China 190640l9 for human beings to touch pigs it is not easy and accurate to measure pigs s temperatures by hands and in modem mass breeding process it cannot find the pig s deceases and cure it at the beginning which increases pigs fatality Infrared thermometer to measure the SIze of the pig breeding in the process of temperature provides a fast safe non contact measurement means l which can be widely and effectively used in large scale breeding process as well as being showed in the form of digital measurement results making the measurement process more direct and shorter often within a few seconds Its service life is long and it is an ideal temperature measuring instrument II DESIGN THINKING AND PROCESS According to the design of function the whole system can be divided into six modules including single chip microcomputer module alarm module temperature acquisition module display module host desktop module communication module 2 the processis shown in figure 1 A Temperature Acquisition Module aJ Infrared temperature measurement module parameter Temperature acquisition module uses the Sun plus TN infrared Wen Mo group the advantages of which contain the infrared automatic temperature measurement 30 meter far measurmg range 0 5 second reaction time SPI interface and convenient connection with the SCM etc And it solves the problem that the traditional temperature measurement need to contact Infrared temperature measurement module parameters are as shown in table 1 TABLE I INFRARED TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT MODULE PARAMETER power 3V SV SIze 3Sx14x12 mm b Pins of Infrared Temperature Measurement Module Infrared temperature measurement module have five pins The diagram is show their function Among them V stands for pin VCC power supply voltage VCC is generally between 3 v and S v voltage generally considered 3 3 D receives pins for the data when there IS no data reception D is high level C stands for 2 KHZ Clock output pin G is on behalf of the grounding pin When A starts signal pins for measunng temperature low level is effective c Sequence Diagram in the Infrared Temperature Measurement Module As shown in above on infrared measuring temperature sequence diagram is SPI data format receiving data in the falling edge of the CLOCK and a temperature measuring needs to receive S 24 bytes of data in which Ox4c in Item stands for target temperature measurement Ox66 stands for measuring ambient temperature MSB stands for high eight data used to receive temperature LSB stands for the 8 bit data used to receive temperature SUM stands for the verification code when it receives correctly then SUM item LSB MSB CR is seen as end mark it finishes receiving a temperature data when CR is OxODh A frame of data including five bytes what each byte means is as follows Item L ch 4 represents the data for the target temperature F 66 h represents the frame data environmental temperature MSB 8 bit Data the MSB LSB 8 bit Data LSB Sum item the MSB LSB Sum CR Odh the end of the code B Display Module and Alarm Module In this design display module adopts LCD1602 module to display temperature while alarm module uses a buzzer alarm device when the measured temperature value is more than the limited set the buzzer alarms 3 The circuit principle diagram of display module and alarm module is shown in fig3 C Communicational Module The system adopts serial communicational method When we design the communicational circuit of the system if the communication distance IS comparatively short we can use RS232C interface to extend the communicational distance conversely RS 48S interface standard should be used to realize the long distance communication Taking the fact that the system s communicational distance is in the range of 10 meters into consideration we will choose the cheaper RS 232 c interface standard communication circuit design 4 Because the output of the micro controller series chip is TTL level while the PC configuration is RS 232 c interface there exists the inconsistencies in the electrical specifications of the two consequently in the process of PC and single chip microcomputer to communicate with each other there must be a level conversion otherwise it is unable to communicate 5 Therefore in the communication circuit of this system is used MAX232 chip level conversion produced by MAXIM company System principle diagram of the serial communication circuit design is as shown in figure 4 III THE MAIN Loop OF THE SYSTEM SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING standby FigureS The Main Loop of the System Software Programming Above figure is the designed main program flow chart After initialization program the next bit machine software enters the main loop the external interruption of radio frequency identification is in a wait state then the radio frequency identification recognizes an electronic ear tag which is on behalf of the fact that pigs are receiving the temperature measurement within the measuring range module Once the temperature measurement procedures start whether the pig s body temperature is normal or 25 not we should save temperatures After the pigs temperatures shown a judgment will be made if it surpasses the range the buzzer will ring for 5 seconds and end then return to the initial state if not it won t return to the same initial state In this process the pig s temperature is transmitted to PC system and saved IV CONCLUSION This design mainly includes two parts namely hardware design part and software design part and the former includes single chip module the infrared temperature measurement module display module and RS232 level conversion module while the latter mainly includes the main program module the infrared temperature measurement module and the display module Through controlling infrared temperature measuring single chip microcomputer transmits the temperature data to the LCD screen after processing and stores the received temperature to the upper machine Through this practice let me more clearly master the related knowledge of single chip microcomputer and understand its powerful functions Some of its structural characteristics and the related development platform for the design of this system provide a convenient conditions 32 programmable I O ports for the extension in the design of the infrared sensor Wen Mo group and keyboard display module are very flexible and it has a rich source of interruption which makes the system strong and expansible in the data display alarm and so on
