扬州大学硕+ 学位论文 摘要 对外语学习者而言，学习外语不仅意味着掌握目的语的语法、发音、词汇， 而且意味着怎样以一种礼貌、准确、有效的方式运用语言，从而最大限度地减少 在跨文化交际过程中产生的误解、尴尬以及冒犯，最大限度地加大成功交际的可 能性。 本研究依据布朗、莱文森的礼貌策略( p o l i t e n e s ss t r a t e g i e s ) ，以及顾日国提出的 礼貌原贝l j ( p o l i t e n e s sp r i n c i p l e s ) ，从跨文化交际的角度对中国学生和美国学生在实 施拒绝言语行为时的策略选择进行了研究，旨在发现他们之间的异同以及策略选 择背后的文化价值取向的差异。研究问题如下： ( 1 ) 中国学生与美国学生实施拒绝言语行为时的表现是否一致? ( 2 ) 中国学生与美国学生实施拒绝言语行为时，有何差异和共性? ( 3 ) 影响中国学生与美国学生实施拒绝言语行为的文化价值取向是什么? 本研究设计之一：通过d c t 补全对话的方式，问卷调查的对象为5 0 名学英 语的中国大学生和3 0 名在上海两所大学学习的美国学生。本文所研究的拒绝言语 行为仅限于实质性的言语拒绝。引发拒绝的言语行为设定为：请求( 4 个) ，邀请 ( 4 个) ，给予( 4 个) 和建议( 4 个) 。所有8 0 个被调查者全部用母语完成问卷。 语料主要来自于d c t 的问卷调查。语料分析过程中，主要考虑社会地位对拒绝策 略的影响。借助与计算机，各项数据采用量化的方法进行分析，根据s p s s ( i o 0 1 中的c h i s q u a r et e s t 的数据分析法和e x c e l 的表格描述，对各项结果进行讨论。本 研究设计之二：根据3 个开放性问题，分别从两组调查者中各选取5 名学生进行 采访，并对采访实录进行分析。 研究结果如下： ( 1 ) 中国学生与美国学生实施拒绝言语行为时，既有共性也存差异。 ( 2 ) 共性主要表现在：总体而言，两组被调查对象在拒绝时，自j 接策略的使 用要多于直接策略。这表明中美文化都认同间接拒绝要比直接拒绝更加 礼貌。此外，他们最常用的四种间接策略也是相同的，即解释原因、劝 庞德美ac o n t r a s t i v es t u d yi i i 说、提供别的方法和道歉。 ( 3 ) 差异主要表现在：中国学生在拒绝时使用的拒绝策略总数要比美国学生 多；此外，尽管两组被调查对象在拒绝时，间接策略的使用要多于直接 策略，但是相比较而言，中国英语学习者更加倾向于使用间接策略，对 交流的方式也比美国学生敏感而且中国英语学习者在交际过程中对对 方的社会地位更加敏感。 ( 4 ) 不同的文化价值取向也影响中国英语学习者与本族语使用者实施拒绝 言语行为时策略的使用。中国人比较注意公众形象，而英语作为本族语 的人更注重个人形象。由于受到传统观念的影响，中国人更注重社会地 位的差异；相比之下，英语作为本族语的人更注重追求所谓的个人权利 和“平等”，对地位的表现不太敏感。除了文化价值取向外，语境因素， 包括交谈双方的性别、年龄等对拒绝策略使用也有一定的影响。
