以剖析，取得了可观成绩，将情态动词的研究深入。然而，他们不能很好地解释情 态动词各语义义项之间的关系以及情态动词的习得与人类认知的关系。 认知语言学家如t a l m y , t a y l o r , s w e e t s e r , j o h n s o n 以及l a n g a c k e r 等以语言与非 语言( 即认知) 方式阐释情态动词，从原型范畴、域、意象图式、动态演变模式、 模糊集等理论分析情态动词语义义项。t a l m y ( 1 9 8 8 ) 率先从认知角度分析情态动词， 并建议以力图式分析情态动词的根意义。s w e e t s e r ( 1 9 9 0 ) 认为情态动词具多义性， 认为情态的多义性是从人类具体的外在生理感知隐喻映射到抽象的内心推理世界； 同时，她援用t a l m y 的力图式，认为情态动词的根意义表达的是外在世界的动力概 念，而这个概念通过隐喻投射到内心心里领域，便产生了情态的认识意义。 基于上述对情态动词的研究分析，本文旨在利用意象图式理论的力图式，从情 态动词的根意义、认识意义和隐喻投射方面着手，对典型英语情态动词c a n ，m a y , m u s t 和汉语情态动词n e n g ( 能) ，k e y i ( 可以) ，y i n g g a i ( 应该) 的语义加以分
