Now AI(Artificial Intelligence) could make it quicker to match any found children to those old photos.Police can use software to age photos of people who have been missing for a while, but these tend to work best in adults, as agerelated changes of adult faces are more predictable and so easier to make. With children, these aged images(图像) dont tend to resemble the older children, and matching photos of found children to old images in a database of missing children is difficult. “Given a recent face image of a child, it is extremely hard for a human to recognize, visually, who the child is from a large data set of child face images,” says Debayan Deb at Michigan State University. Now Deb and his colleagues have created an algorithm(算法) to do this for them. They created a facerecognition algorithm on data sets, which contain images of nearly 1,000 children between 2 and 18 years old. Each was photographed at least four times over a period of six years.AI learned to match recent photographs of children with images taken 2.5 years earlier 80 percent of the time. With one year between the two photographs, the method was 90 percent accurate at recognizing faces. This dropped to 73 percent after three years. The approach beats comparing children with photos taken when they were aged 0 to 4 that have been aged by software, which stays at 50 percent recognition after six months. The new AI might help to improve accuracy of this kind of software as well.Debs next goal is to make the age gap wider. His team also hopes to develop an app that could be used to fight child trafficking. 语篇导读本文主要介绍了人工智能能够确认失踪儿童的身份。4What is suggested in Para.1?AThe old photos are hard to read. But isnt it the right age or physical type for the part?Dont give up: there may be a place for you in the world of voiceacting.Twentyyearold Rickey Collins brought Tucker Foley to life in the cartoon Danny Phantom. In addition to many appearances on television and in movies, Rickey is a voiceover actor, someone we hear but dont see. Rickey has acted since he was 6, both on and off camera. After school, his grandmothera manager and acting coachhelped him develop his skills by doing voice exercises and reading aloud.Voiceover actors do many kinds of acting. They are the voices of cartoon characters on television, in movies and video games, and for communicating toys. In films, they replace the foreign language conversation with English version. They create crowd noises, make commercials, act in radio plays, and record telephone instructions and public announcements. They read books on tape and even record museum tours.Like other actors, voiceover actors need to understand scripts, interpret characters, and breathe correctly. They have to master voice techniques, such as pacing, volume, and range. Sometimes they use their normal voices; other times they change their voices to create different characters or noises. Rickey received his Danny Phantom scripts only a few days before he taped each episode(一集). He wrote helpful notes on the scripts to guide himself on speaking his part.Rickey practices, then tapes at the recording studio. He and the other cast members sit in a soundproof booth, acting out their characters as they read their lines into the microphones. “The cartoon gets created after we record the words, so we have to imagine everything in our mind,” said Rickey.
