Entrepreneurs because they are innovative, strategic, resourceful and implement business models and principles to reach their goals,/yesawards,Supporting Social Entrepreneurs,Acknowledges the importance of supporting individuals that are committed to bringing about a lasting social change in their community Recognizes innovative programs that aim not only to provide immediate aid to beneficiaries, but also as a means of “helping the community to help themselves” for longer term sustenance Supports and encourage other entrepreneurs to create similar social markets throughout Asia Pacific,DHL creates markets for social change:,/yesawards,Why Young Entrepreneurs ?,39% of the worlds population is under the age of 20 years 85% of worlds young population live in developing countries, with approximately 60 % in Asia alone Among the youth, socially disadvantaged youth are particularly affected, thereby perpetuating a vicious circle of poverty and social exclusion The youth explosion offers a unique opportunity to renew the worlds human capital knowledge, skills & good health The youth are tomorrows leaders,/yesawards,Objectives of DHL YES Awards,The objectives of the DHL YES Awards are: To identify, recognize, celebrate and promote successful young social entrepreneurs To create a lasting avenue for entrepreneurs from across the region to network and learn from each other, as well as effect social changes on a regional level To promote the spirit of entrepreneurship as a means of addressing current social needs and effecting positive changes within the community To inspire other individuals to work towards improving their own communities using innovative strategies,/yesawards,DHL YES Awards,Framework,/yesawards,The DHL YES Awards lend very well to DHLs can-do and entrepreneurial spirit, and play a catalyst role in searching for and recognizing quality social entrepreneurs Opportunity to lend our support and energize efforts towards the 2015 United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) commitment Pilot countries in Asia Pacific Bangladesh Pakistan Philippines Singapore Thailand,DHL YES Awards “Unleashing Potential”,.,/yesawards,DHL YES Awards - Eligibility Criteria,Less than 40 years of age as on 31st March 2007 Legal resident of either of the participating countries Be the primary leader/ pioneer/ owner/ promoter/ founder of the organization Track record of at least 3 years in running the organization Be able to show result in achievement of one or more of the UN MDGs,/yesawards,DHL YES Awards - Award Criteria,Leadership Innovation Social Impact of the Organization Potential for Expansion and Replication Sustainability of the Organization Challenges Overcome,/yesawards,DHL YES Awards Framework,Candidates apply,National Screening Organization Screen applications based on eligibility Score screened applications based on the criteria Short list 6 applicants Conduct field visits for the 6 short-listed applicants Present field visit report to the National Jury,National Jury Select 1 national winner and 2 runners-up from the 6 short-listed applicants Celebrate national winners & runners up at national level All 5 national winners will attend the regional awards in Singapore,International Council Select 1 regional winner from the 5 national winners,DHL YES Awards Screening & Jury,Each participating country has appointed an independent institution/ organization to manage the application process, screen applicants and identify 6 finalists At a national level, a national jury composed of imminent national leaders in the social, development and business sectors have been appointed to select one national winner and two runners up from each country At a regional level, an international council of international figures from the development, social enterprise, business fields have been selected to guide and endorse the awards structure and process as well as select a regional winner from the five national winners,The decisions of the screening organization, national jury and international council are final and binding,/yesawards,DHL YES Awards,Prize,/yesawards
