Generally speaking, there are three types of people in this world: those who do no harm as we follow our life path, those who pull us up to a new purposefilled life path and those who pull us down to a boring and annoying life path. Although the offers may sound equally attractive, the motivations or the real directions may be questionable.Looking back over the years, my story may be dull, yet there were at least three life path jumps I have experienced. The first was an opportunity to work for Senator (参议员) Jim Abdnor. I had written before how he gave me a completely new direction in my life. It lasted over seven years, ending with an experience of a lifetime working in the White House. Another is returning to school to get my MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. After I realized that politics was not part of my life plan, I needed to get on a different path and going back to school was the ticket. A former professor from Augustana College provided me encouragement on to this path. Almost twenty years later, my business career is still developing, but it has been full of lessons and experiences in leadership, friendship, and so on.Ill keep the third safe within my thoughts for now. I think you get the idea, though, on how life path jumps work. Why I said my story may be dull is that it seems normal at times. I havent written the book of all time, but taken two years to do mission (职责) work, or inspired people to change. However, when I look back warmly on my farm days to where I am now, I cannot help but feel fortunate for the life jumps I have encountered_and taken. 1The first paragraph mainly tells us _.Apeople around us can help or hurt usBthis world is full of challengesChow to classify our friendsDhow to protect ourselves解析:选A段落大意题。 2We can conclude that Senator Jim Abdnor _.Awas a successful directorBchose the author as his secretaryChad a major influence on the authorDworked for the White House for over seven years解析:选C推理判断题。 3What does the underlined word “encountered” probably mean?AInspired.BExperienced.CCollected. DInvited. 4How does the author feel about his life story?ADisappointed. BWorried.CSurprised DSatisfied. 根据第二段第一句以及全文最后一句中的“I cannot help but feel fortunate for the life jumps I have encountered and taken”可知作者并非真的认为自己的一生枯燥无味,而是在为自己所经历的人生转折感到很幸运、很满意,故选D项。 It was now raining heavily.
