1、FORMATE DESTRUCTION SYSTEM STARTUPNOTE: This is for Training only, and is not intended to be used as a step by step procedure.PO/MTBEFormate Destruction System StartupFormate Destruction System StartupBefore starting up the Formate Destruction Reactor System, the following conditions must be met: Cr

2、ude TBA Tank has been inventoried DO drain figure 8 blinds turned open for air freeing of equipment have been turned to the normal run position of closed. Verify all blinds are in the proper orientation before addition of any hydrocarbon to the system. Verify that all bleeders to atmosphere are clos

3、ed with pluginstalled on open end. TBA Test Tank and Off-Spec TBA tank are ready to receive product. Process Fuel system ready to receive material LP Vent Gas system in service.NOTE: This is for Training only, and is not intended to be used as a step by step procedure.PO/MTBE HP Flare and blowdown s

4、ystems in service. Cooling water system in service. Demineralized water system in service Hydrogen system in service. Catalyst has been properly loaded into Formate Destruction Reactor. S1 and SC1 utility systems in service. All Safety Relief valves are lined up and functioning properly All instrume

5、ntation is lined up and functioning properly All nitrogen hoses connected to system have been disconnected. All bleeder valves are blocked with pipe plug installed in open end.Notify Console Operator to close the following control valves: TBA feed to the Formate Destruction Reactor. Steam to the For

6、mate Destruction Heater. Condensate control valve. Temperature control temperature from heat exchangers. Temperature control temperature bypassing heat exchangers. Demineralized water to Formate Destruction system Hydrogen feed to Formate Destruction system. Feed Pressure control valve to TBA Feed F

7、ractionation Column. Verify Cooling water supply and return have been lined up to TBA Feed Fractionation Column Condenser. Verify that supply and return have been lined up to TBA Feed Fractionation Column Trim Condenser. Verify that TBA Cooler is functioning properly. Manipulate the following valves

8、 to liquid fill tube side and shell side of exchangers, Formate Destruction Heater, Formate Destruction Reactor, and Perox Decomposition Reactor. Verify upstream and downstream valves on Flow Valves areopen. By-pass should be closed. Verify shell side inlet and outlet valves on exchangers are open.

9、Verify that shell side outlet line is open into the filters for thermal expansion. Start small nitrogen purge through exchangers to.Open filters to blowdown. Ensure that outlet valves on filters are closed. Verify shell side inlet and outlet valves on exchangers are open. Verify tube side inlet and

10、outlet valves on exchangers are open. Valve by-passing tube side of exchangers should be closed. Verify upstream and downstream block valves are open on TV- 38036A. Verify upstream and downstream block valves are open on TV-38036B. Verify tube side inlet and outlet valve on exchanger are open, by-pa

11、ss valve around tube side should be closed. Feed to reactor should be lined up to flow into the bottom and exit from the top.Reverse flow lines should be closed. Feed to 01R0380 should be lined up to flow into the bottom and exit from the top. By-pass line around reactor should be closed. Close valv

12、e on downstream side of PV-31201. Ensure that by- pass around PV-31201 is closed. Verify that TBA feed to One-Step Reactors that comes off justupstream of PV is closed. Verify that TBA feed to the 2nd Stage Primary Fractionator that comes off just upstream of FE-38021 is closed. Notify Console Opera

13、tor and Team Leader that the Formate Destruction system is ready to be inventoried. Using DCS open TV-38036A and close TV-38036B. Perform checkout of OSBL Crude TBA Pump. If pump is ready for service, lineup pump. Startup OSBL Crude TBA Pump.Operate with minimum flow returning to tank.Operate with d

14、ischarge pressure at 2.50 MPa g. Slowly open FV-38021 Crude TBA feed control valve, target flow rate of 22,300 kg/hr. At the same time slowly open FV-38090 Demineralized water feed to system. Target water feed rate of 4 wt% of TBA feed.For 22,300 kg/hr TBA feed, target water rate of 720 kg/hr flow.

15、Open by-pass around PSV on the Perox Decomposition Reactor, this will be used while filling system to vent nitrogen displaced by TBA and water. Monitor reactor pressure, adjust feed rate and vent to keep pressure below 2.90 MPa g (PSV settings on Formate Destruction and Perox Decomposition Reactors)

16、. Lineup steam and condensate on 01E0312, set target temperature on TC-38001 of 50 C. Monitor temperatures in the Formate Destruction Reactor to track level in reactor. Monitor level in HP flare KO drum, if liquid level builds, this may indicate that reactor system is full. Open Formate Destruction

17、Reactor PSV by-pass line. Open long enough to verify that reactor is liquid full.Close PSV by-pass once it is determined that reactor is full. Verify that Perox Decomposition Reactor is liquid full, if full close PSV by-pass on Perox Decomposition Reactor. Manipulate the following valves to inventor

18、y and startup the TBA Feed Fractionation Column. Lineup steam and condensate control valves on 01E0316 Open upstream and downstream valves on FV-31207Overhead liquid purge to Process Fuel. Open upstream and downstream valves on PV-31261 Overhead vapor purge to LP vent gas system. Open upstream and d

19、ownstream valves on FV-31206 Reflux control valve. Lineup suction and discharge valves on 01P0313-A/B Bottoms pumps Lineup suction and discharge valves on 01P0317-A/B Condensate pumps. Lineup suction and discharge valves on 01P0312-A/B Reflux pumps. Verify that column and reflux drum sight glasses a

20、re lined up and functioning properly. Open valve on bottom of column that routes column bottom tobottoms pumps. Verify that FV-31218 TBA flow control valve to MTBE Reactor heater 01E0569 is closed. Verify that by-pass valve around FV- 31218 is closed. Place PV-31261 purge to fuel in manual with outp

21、ut set at zero (valve should be closed). Place FV-31207 purge to LP vent gas in manual with output set at 100% (valve should be fully open). Open downstream block valve on PV-31201, place PV-31201 in automatic with setpoint target of 1.85 MPa g. Monitor level in column, when level appears, start ste

22、am in andcondensate out of reboiler. Target reboiler outlet temperature of 97C. Target condensate pot level of 50%. Monitor column pressure closely, may have to open by-pass around overhead PSV to vent nitrogen from system. Monitor level in reflux drum, as level appears, slowly increase reflux rate

23、as column conditions allow. At full rates the reflux rate will be 40,019 kg/hr. Adjust as necessary to control level in reflux drum. As pressure comes under control, place PV-31204 in automatic with setpoint at 0.159 MPa g. As column bottom level requires, pump column bottom product to Off-Spec TBA

24、tankage. Increase discharge pressure on TBA Crude Pump from 2.50MPa g to target of 3.10 MPa g. Place TC-38036 in automatic with setpoint at 151C.Ensure TV-38036A and B are set to function in automatic. Slowly increase temperature setpoint on TC-38036 Formate Destruction Heater. Target temperature of

25、 190C Lineup hydrogen to Formate Destruction system. With TBA feed at 22,300 kg/hr and Demineralized water set at 720 kg/hr. The hydrogen needs to be set at 5.0 kg/hr. This is approx. 25% capacity for filling and startup. Place FC-31207 overhead purge to Process Fuel in automatic with setpoint targe

26、t of 71C.NOTE: AT THIS TIME THE MTBE SECTION HAS NOT BEEN COMMISSIONED, HEAT INTEGRATION WITH THE OVERHEAD OF THE ALCOHOL RECYCLE COLUMN IS NOT AVAILABLE. Slowly increase TBA /water feed to maintain Feed temperature to Formate Destruction Reactor in normal range. Limitation on system will be heat av

27、ailable to the Formate Destruction Reactor. When Alcohol Recycle Column is started and heat integration available, feed rate can be increased as conditions allow. Remember to increase Demineralized water feed to keep 4 wt% concentration in the TBA feed. Also increase hydrogen as rates are increased. At full rate the hydrogen flow will be 21 kg/hr. Adjust as required. When TBA meets sp
