Topic sentences should always contain both (1) a topic and (2) a controlling idea. Read the following topic sentences. They all co

4、ntain a topic (in red) and a controlling idea (in green). Readers generally look to the first few sentences in a paragraph to determine the subject

8、 and perspective of the paragraph.
