5.FunctionalDescription

The74HC595operatesshiftingdataintotheshiftregisterandthentransferringittothestorageregister.The3stateoutputscanbeenabledordisabledasneeded.Thedevicecanbecascadedtocreatelongershiftregisters.Here'sabriefdescriptionofitsoperation:

DataisshiftedintotheshiftregisterontherisingedgeoftheSH_CPclockinput.

ThedataintheshiftregisteristransferredtothestorageregisterontherisingedgeoftheST_CPclockinput.

TheoutputsareenabledwhenOEislowanddisabledwhenOEishigh.

TheMRinputresetstheshiftregisterandstorageregistertoallzeroswhenlow.

TheDSinputistheserialdatainputfortheshiftregister.
