Objective:Bylearningthislesson,studentsshouldbeabletomasterthefollowingaspectsofEnglishknowledgeandability:1)Beabletouserelevantvocabularyandphrasestodescribespaceexplorationandspacemissions;2)Abletounderstandtheintroductionofspacescientistsandsortoutkeyinformation;3)Beabletousetheknowledgeandinformationlearnedtoconductgroupdiscussionsandwritearticlesonspaceexploration.

Teachingfocus:Theteachingfocusofthislessonmainlyincludesthemasteryofspaceexplorationvocabularyandphrases,theunderstandingofNASAmissionsandspacescientists,andthedevelopmentofEnglishlistening,speaking,readingandwritingskills.

Teachingdifficulty:Theteachingdifficultyofthislessonliesintheimprovementofstudents'abilitytounderstandanddescribespaceexplorationandspacemissions,andthecultivationofskillsonhowtoorganizeandextractkeyinformation.

Teachingactivities:First,IwillshowthetitleofthearticletothestudentsandexplainthattodaywearegoingtostudyanarticleabouttheMarsexplorationmission.Then,insmallgroups,Iwouldhandoutessaystostudentsandaskthemtoreadthetitle,thesubtitle,andthefirstsentenceofeachparagraph,thencollaborateandtrytoguessthegeneralcontentoftheessay.Next,I'llaskseveralgroupstosharetheirguesses,alongwithsomesuggestionsandguidance.Next,Iwillguidethestudentstoreadthewholepassagetogetherandexplainthemeaningofthenewwordsandphrasesastheyread.Afterreading,Iwillleadtheclasstoanalyzethestructureofthearticleanddiscussthemainideaofeachparagraphandtherelationshipbetweenparagraphs.

Content:Summarizethecoursecontentandencouragestudentstoaskquestionsanddiscuss.

Teachingactivities:Attheendofthesession,Iwillgiveabriefsummaryofthemainpointsofthelessonandencouragestudentstoraiseanyquestionsorideasthattheyarenotclearaboutanddiscussandanswerthemwiththeclass.Iwillhighlightimportantlearningpointsandtechniquesandencouragefurtherselfdirectedlearningandreadingafterclass.

Throughtheseleadin,classinteraction,andclosingsessions,studentswillbeabletoimprovetheirreadinganddiscussionskills,activelyparticipateinclassinteractions,anddeepentheirunderstandingofthetextsandtopicsastheyexplorespaceandtheuniverse.

Inthislesson,Iusedmultimediamaterialsandintroducedvividandinterestingstoriestohelpstudentsunderstandandattracttheirattention.Thecoursecontentmainlyincludessomeknowledgeaboutspaceandhistoricalevents.

Intheteachingreflection,Ifoundthefollowingproblems:

1.Notdiverseenough.WhenIaskedquestions,Imainlyusedsinglechoiceandtrueorfalsequestions,whichmaylimitstudents'thinkingabilityandanswerways.NexttimeIcantrytouseopenquestionstoencouragemorediscussionandreflection.

2.Timeisnotevenlydistributed.Inthislesson,Ispenttoomuchtimeintheintroduction,resultingininsufficienttimeforfollowuppractice.Nexttime,Iwillarrangemytimereasonablyandmakesurethatthetimeofeachlinkisallocatedreasonablysothatthestudentscanfullypracticeandmastertheknowledge.
