000years.Comparingthedifferentcharacteristicsofthebeads-thesizeandthickness,they
foundthatbetween33,000and50,000yearsago,peopleatsitesacrosssouthernandeastern
Africa-spanningadistanceofmorethan3,000kilometers(about1,864miles)-were
usingalmostidenticalbeads.
