TextAnnealwayswantedtobeawriter.Shestartedthediaryafterher13thbirthdayandcontinuedwritingfortwoyears.ThediarydocumentsherexperienceofhidingduringtheNazioccupationofHolland.WhenAnneheardthata

memberoftheDutchgovernmentwasencouragingthecreationofapublicrecordoftheoccupation,includinglettersanddiaries,shestartededitingherwritingwithaviewtopublicationlater:Thismeanstherearetwoversions,theoriginalandaneditedversion.ThediarywasleftintheannexeandrecoveredandreturnedtoAnne’sfather–asthesolesurvivor–whenitwasknownthattheauthorhaddied.TheDiaryofAnneFrankLanguagePointsItwaspublishedintheoriginalDutchin1947,inGermanandFrenchin1950,andinEnglishin1952.Afterclaimsthatitwasaforgery,afive-yearindependentinvestigationconfirmeditsauthenticity.Nowoneoftheworld’smostwidelyreadbooks,availablein60languages,thediary’softenstudiedinschoolsandhasbeenmadeintoseveralplays,films,andin2009aBBCTVdramatizedserialandanextensivedocumentaryfeaturingthetestimoniesofHolocaustsurvivorswhoknewAnne,eveninherlastdaysinthedeathcamp.LanguagePointsunderwearn.
