rdigitaltestcircuitsfortriggering.Ithappenswhentheinputtriggersourcecrossesaspecifiedlevelinaspecifieddirection.VideoTriggerperformsafieldorlinetriggerthroughstandardvideosignals.PulseWidthTriggercantriggernormalorabnormalpulsesthatmeettriggerconditions.SlopeTriggerusestheriseandfalltimesontheedgeofsignalfortriggering.OvertimeTriggerhappensaftertheedgeofsignalreachesthesettime.AlterTrigger,asafeatureofanalogoscilloscopes,givesstabledisplaysofsignalsattwodifferentfrequencies.MainlyitusesaspecificfrequencytoswitchbetweentwoanalogchannelsCH1andCH2sothatthechannelswillgenerateAltertriggersignalsthroughthetriggercircuitry.TriggerMode:YoucanselecttheAutoorNormalmodetodefinehowtheoscilloscopeacquiresdatawhenitdoesnotdetectatriggercondition.AutoModeperformstheacquisitionfreelyinabsenceofvalidtrigger.Itallowsthegenerationofuntriggeredwaveformswiththetimebasesetto80ms/divorslower.NormalModeupdatesthedisplayedwaveformsonlywhentheoscilloscopedetectsavalidtriggercondition.Beforethisupdate,theoscilloscopestilldisplaystheoldwaveforms.Thismodeshallbeusedwhenyouwanttoonlyviewtheeffectivelytriggeredwaveforms.Inthismode,theoscilloscopedisplayswaveformsonlyafterthefirsttrigger.Toperformasinglesequenceacquisition,pushtheSINGLESEQbutton.TriggerCoupling:TriggerCouplingdetermineswhichpartofthesignalwillbedeliveredtothetriggercircuit.Thiscanhelptoobtainastabledisplayofthewaveform.Tousetriggercoupling,pushtheTRIGMENUbutton,selectanEdgeorPulsetrigger,andthenselectaCouplingoption.TriggerPosition:Thehorizontalpositioncontrolestablishesthetimebetweenthetriggerpositionandthescreencenter.SlopeandLevel:TheSlopeandLevelcontrolshelptodefinethetrigger.TheSlopeoptiondetermineswhetherthetriggerpointisontherisingorfallingedgeofasignal.Toperformthetriggerslopecontrol,presstheTRIGMENUbutton,selectanEdgetrigger,andusetheSlopebuttontoselectrisingorfalling.TheTRIGGERLEVELknobcontrolsthetriggerpointisonwhichpositionoftheedge.TriggerslopecanberisingorfallingTriggerslopecanberisingorfallingRisingEdgeFallingEdgeTriggerlevelcanbeadjustedverticallyDataAcquisitionWhenyouacquireananalogsignal,theoscilloscopewillconvertitintoadigitalone.Therearetwokindsofacquisition:Real-timeacquisitionandEquivalentacquisition.Thereal-timeacquisitionhasthreemodes:Normal,PeakDetect,andAverage.Theacquisitionrateisaffectedbythesettingoftimebase.Normal:Inthisacquisitionmode,theoscilloscopesamplesthesignalinevenlyspacedintervalstoestablishthewaveform.Thismodeaccuratelyrepresentssignalsinmosttime.However,itdoesnotacquirerapidvariationsintheanalogsignalthatmayoccurbetweentwosamples,whichcanresultinaliasingandmaycausenarrowpulsestobemissed.Insuchcases,youshouldusethePeakDetectmodetoacquiredata.PeakDetect:Inthisacquisitionmode,theoscilloscopegetsthemaximumandminimumvaluesoftheinputsignalovereachsampleintervalandusesthesevaluestodisplaythewaveform.Inthisway,theoscilloscopecanacquireanddisplaythosenarrowpulsesthatmayhaveotherwisebeenmissedinNormalmode.However,noisewillappeartobehigherinthismode.Average:Inthisacquisitionmode,theoscilloscopeacquiresseveralwaveforms,averagesthem,anddisplaystheresultingwaveform.Youcanusethismodetoreducerandomnoise.EquivalentAcquisition:Thiskindofacquisitioncanbeutilizedforperiodicsignals.Incasetheacquisitionrateistoolowwhenusingthereal-timeacquisition,theoscilloscopewilluseafixedratetoacquiredatawithastationarytinydelayaftereachacquisitionofaframeofdata.AfterrepeatingthisacquisitionforNtimes,theoscilloscopewillarrangetheacquiredNframesofdatabytimetomakeupanewframeofdata.Thenthewaveformcanberecovered.ThenumberoftimesNisrelatedtotheequivalentacquisitionrate.TimeBase:Theoscilloscopedigitizeswaveformsbyacquiringthevalueofaninputsignalatdiscretepoints.Thetimebasehelpstocontrolhowoftenthevaluesaredigitized.UsetheSEC/DIVknobtoadjustthetimebasetoahorizontalscalethatsuitsyourpurpose.WaveformScalingandPositioningThedisplayofwaveformsonthescreencanbechangedbyadjustingtheirscaleandposition.Oncethescalechanges,thewaveformdisplaywillincreaseordecreaseinsize.Oncethepositionchanges,thewaveformwillmoveup,down,right,orleft.Thechannelreferenceindicator(locatedontheleftofthegraticule)identifieseachwaveformonthescreen.Itpointstothegroundlevelofthewaveformrecord.VerticalScaleandPosition:Theverticalpositionofawaveformcanbechangedbymovingitupanddownonthescreen.Tocomparedata,youmayalignawaveformoveranother.WhenyoupushtheVOLTS/DIVbuttontochangetheverticalscaleofawaveform,thewaveformdisplaywillcontractorexpandverticallytothegroundlevel.HorizontalScaleandPosition:PretriggerInformationYoucanadjusttheHORIZONTALPOSITIONcontroltoviewwaveformdatabeforethetrigger,afterthetrigger,orsomeofeach.Whenyouchangethehorizontalpositionofawaveform,youareactuallychangingthetimebetweenthetriggerpositionandthescreencenter.Forexample,ifyouwanttofindoutthecauseofaglitchinyourtestcircuit,youshouldtriggerontheglitchandmakethepretriggerperiodlongenoughtocapturedatabeforetheglitch.Thenyoucananalyzethepretriggerdataandperhapsfindthecause.YouareallowedtochangethehorizontalscaleofallthewaveformsbyturningtheSEC/DI
