shebecameamemberofChinaAcademyofChineseMedicalSciences.

Later,

shestudiedChinesemedicinefortwoandahalfyearswithexpertsinthefield

fromwhomshegainedadeepknowledgeabouttraditionalpractices.In1969,

TuYouyouwaschosentoestablishateamtofindacureformalaria—a

diseasethatkilledmillionsofpeopleeveryyear.....Theytestedmorethan240,000chemicalswithno

success.However,

TuYouyouhadanideathatChineseherbsmightholdthesecret.
