long-runninganthologyseriesTheLorettaYoungShow(1954-63).Aftertheshowwentofftheair,

Youngcompletelyretiredfromperforming,notreturningtothespotlightuntilherrolesaquarter

ofacenturylaterintwoNBCTV-movies,ChristmasEve(1986)andLadyinaCorner(1989).She

diedofovariancanceronAugust12th,2000inLosAngeles,California,USA.GraceKellyOnNovember12th,1929,GracePatriciaKellywasborninPhiladelphia,Pennsylvaniatowealthyparents.Afterherhighschoolgraduationin1947,Gracestruckoutonherown,headingtoNewYork’sbrightlightstotryherluckthere.GraceworkedsometimeasamodelandmadeherdebutonBroadwayin1949.YounghadabandonedthescreenIn1951,sheappearedinherfirstfilmentitledFourteenHours(1951)whenshewas22.AlthoughshegotnoticedwithHighNoon,herworkwithdirectorAlfredHitchcock,whichbeganwithDialMforMurder(1954)madeherastar.HerstandoutperformanceinRearWindow(1954)broughthertoprominence.Gracestayedbusyin1954appearinginfivefilms.GracewouldforeverbeimmortalizedbywinningtheBestActressAcademyAwardforherportrayalofGeorgieElginoppositeBingCrosbyinTheCountryGirl(1954).In1956,sheplayedTracyLordinthemusicalcomedyHighSociety(1956)whichalsostarredFrankSinatraandBingCrosby.Thewhimsicaltaleendedwithherre-marryingherformerhusband,playedbyCrosby.Thefilmwaswellreceived.Italsoturnedouttobeherfinalactingperformance.GracelatermetandmarriedPrinceRainierofMonaco.Bybecomingaprincess,shegaveuphercareer.Fortherestofherlife,shewastoIn1951,sheappearedinherfremaininthenewswithhermarriageandherthreechildren.On

Shewasjust52yearsold.SophiaLoren

Target(1978),andFirepower(1979).Amidthesemostlyforgettableproductions,ASpecialDay

(1977)easilystoodoutasaseriousfilmdirectedbyEttoreScola.LorenhassincemovedtotheUS

andstarredinahandfulofTVmoviesandminiseries,includingAurora(1984),Courage(1986),

MarioPuzo’sTheFortunatePilgrim(1988),andanItaliantelevisionremakeofTwoWomen(1989).

Havingwrittenanautobiography,“Sophia:LivingandLoving,”in

1979,shestarredinatelevision

adaptation,SophiaLoren:HerOwnStorythe

followingyear.SheteamedupwithMastroianniagain

forRobertAltman’sReadytoWear/Pràt-ê-Porterwhichteamedherwithmajorst(1994).In1991shereceivedasecond,special

AcademyAwardforthewholeofherdistinguishedcareer.

Today,SophiaLorenisconsideredoneofthebest-loved,mostphenomenalactressesin

history.Duringacareerspanningmorethan50years,Sophiahasamassed100filmstohercredit.

NatalieWoodwasbornonJuly20th,1938inSanFrancisco,California.Herparentswere

RussianémigréswhohardlyspokeanycomprehensibleEnglish,buttheychangedthefamilyname
