1、Unit 4 I used to be afraid of the dark. Section B, 2a-2fAnalysis of the teaching material:This unit is chosen from Book 5 “Unit4 I used to be afraid of the dark.” The topic of this unit is talking about what you used to be like. This lesson is the sixth one of the unit, from 2a to 2f in Section B, w

2、hich makes it a reading lesson. Activity 2a is a pre-reading activity aiming to lead into the topic of the class by discussing what problems do you think Li Wen might have. Activity 2b guide students to use context and the logic of the context to fill in the missing sentences. Activity 2c allows stu

3、dents to talk about character changes, reinforce and export the core sentences again to provide Ss with reading practice using the target language. Activity 2d gives Ss an opportunity to guess the meaning of words by using the context. Activity 2e lets Ss review to consolidate the text by completing

4、 the passage with the proper forms of the words and phrases . Activity 2f according to the text, imagine a conversation between Li Wen and his parents so as to provide Ss with speaking practice using the target language. Analysis of the students:Students have learned the sentence structures talking

5、about what you used to be like, and remember the words in this unit. Which helps them to understand the passage. But students in Grade 9 havent mastered reading strategies well, so the teacher should make some activities to improve students reading skills like prediction, scanning for detail informa

6、tion. Teaching aims:Students can understand and use the target vocabularies and phrases, such as influence, absent, boarding school, in person, be proud of, take pride in, look after, make a decision etc.Students talk what problems that Li Wen used to have.Students can understand the passage by usin

7、g reading strategies like prediction, skimming for the main idea and reading the sentence context.Students need to know more basic information about the left-behind children.Students can understand the importance of effective communication between parents and child can promote the growth of children
