12、意为“既然”。例如：since no one is against the plan we' ll carry it out.既然没有人反对，我们就执行这个计划。3)as表示不谈自明的原因，语气最弱。as可放在主句之前或之后。例如：as he was not well, i decided to go without him .由于他身体不好，我决定独自去了。2 .结果状语从句结果状语从句可以由so that(因此)，so. (that)(如止匕以至于),such. that(这样以至于)等词引导。例如：he didn' t plan his time well , so th

15、句若为否定结构，也可用 should。例 如：let' s take the front seats so that we may see more clearly我们坐前排吧，这样我们可以看得更清楚些。i cycled in front of him , got off my bicycle and laid it down on the road in front of his car in order that he couldn' t drive off.我骑到他的汽车前面，下了车，把自行车放在汽车的前面，以使汽 车不能开走。i shall stay in the ho

16、tel all day in case there is news of the missing child.我将整天呆在旅馆以防会有失踪孩子的消息。she hid her jewellery for fear that it would be stolen.她把珠宝藏了起来以免被人偷走。they took away the knife so that the boy should not hurt himself. 他 把刀拿走，免得那小孩伤了自己。注意：so that既可以引导结果状语从句也可以引导目的状语从句。引导结果状语从句时，从句之前常常有逗号。若没有逗号，要看从句 中是否有情态动词

17、，如果有，则多半是目的状语从句；反之，多半为结果状语从句。例如：i turned up the radio , so that everyone heard the news.我把收音机音量开大，结果大家都听到了这个消息。(结果状语从句)4 .时间状语从句(1)由 when, while, as, after, before,once,since,till /until, whenever, as soon a抹引导的时间状语从句。 remember to buy me a dictionary when you go out.出去时记着给我买一本词典来。i' ll finish al

20、eep directly i went to bed.我一上床就睡着了。 we rushed in immediately a gunshot was heard一听见枪声我们就冲了进去。5.让步状语从句（1）由 though/although（尽管,虽然）,even if/even though（即使）引 导。we'll try to finish the work in time though /although we are short of man power.尽管缺乏人手，我们还是要设法按时完成这项工作的。although journalism seems like a go

21、od profession, i would prefer to be a teacher.虽然新闻业似乎是个好职业，但我更喜欢当老师。even though/if he knows much, he is modest.尽管他很有学问，但他仍很谦虚。（2）as（尽管，虽然）引导让步状语从句时，要把表语、状语、动词放到 主语之前。如表语是可数名词单数，要去掉不定冠词，但如果这个可 数名词有修饰语，则要保留不定冠词。 late as it was, they kept on working.尽管时间很晚了，他们仍继续工作。2)child as he i§ he knows a lot.
