It has become the most successful guide to reading comprehension for general reader.Introduction to the bookb. The author Mortimer J. Adler: (1902 2001) wa

3、s an American philosopher, educator, and popular author. He was famous as a leading editor of Encyclopaedia Britannica(大英百科全书) in 1974. He found the Great Books of the Western World program and strove to bring great books to ordinary people. Great books are also hard books. Maybe thats why he wrote

If a book is totally intelligible to him, he will just know more such facts and understand them in the same level. But if he is reading a history that seeks not only

15、lysis of the subject. The comparative reading is very important especially for us graduate and research students. Review of the book It is a practical and useful book. We will increase our reading skill and learn to be an active reader. It is also a challenging and boring book. It is said that 70% of the readers didnt finish reading and 90% of the reader didnt act in the way proposed in the book .C
