Aims on knowledgeSs will be able to:a. read and understand the new words: survival kit, torch, a ball of string, plastic sheet, first aid box, wagon, stuck, wander off, trap, get it off, sniffed, bad-tempered, jaw, cruel, horrid, shelter, surroundedb.

2、 get the main idea of this story. Wilf took a tent round to Chips house, and they wanted to practise survival skills. Biff took an umbrella to help them, but boys didnt like to take it. Then The magic took children back to a wood, and they met Amy and Fox who were lost in the wood. Then they helped

3、each other to go through different dangers. Finally, the Indians helped them to find Amys family and they went on to westward. The magic took the children home, and Wilf changed his attitude about Biffs umbrella.2. Aims on abilitySs will be able to know &understand:a. the plots of the story(what ,wh

7、个故事。要求学生课前反复听录音跟读。三、教师要求1. 教师课前须熟读故事,了解故事内容。2. 对于较难的单词,教师可板书,并配合动作和表情帮助学生理解。3. 全英文授课。四、教学用具多媒体设备、课件。五、课堂教学基本步骤1. 导入(Lead-in):观看视频,了解美国西进运动的背景,导入故事情景通过播放视频An Introduction to Westward Expansion,让学生简单了解美国历史上的西进运动。(1)教师简单介绍并播放视频(见课件):The Westward Expansion took almost the whole 19th century. American be

8、lieved their country would stretch from sea (Atlantic) to sea (Pacific). Many immigrants put all their belongings in a wagon and moved to the Wild West. They faced a lot of dangers and hardship, such as wild animals, Indian attacks, criminals and outlaws, etc. The pioneer spirit is a very important

9、factor in American culture. Now I am going to play a slideshow and lets have a brief look at the Westward Expansion. (2)视频结束后,与学生互动,自然过渡到讲故事环节:Was it easy or difficult for the immigrants to move west? Why?Todays adventure would happen at that time. Who were taken into the magic adventure? What happe

10、ned to them? Lets learn the story Survival Adventure.2. 看图讲故事(Storytelling):了解故事背景 教师利用课件选取播放故事前4幅图片,并用丰富的表情、生动的英文和适当的肢体语言给学生绘声绘色地讲故事,引导学生观察图片,了解故事背景。(Picture 1) Look at the picture. What did Chip and Wilf do? They set up a tent to sleep in.But Chip had never slept in a tent. “It will be fun, but we

11、 will need a survival kit.” said Wilf.(Picture 2) What did Wilf have in his rucksack? Wilf got a torch, a ball of string, a plastic sheet, some chocolate and a first aid box.Chip got a mirror, a pencil and notebook and a bag of crisps.Biff came out with a big umbrella. She thought they might need th

12、is, but Wilf thought it was silly.(Picture 3) Unfortunately, it rained hard that evening. Chip and Wilf had to camp on Chips bedroom floor.“You wont need a survival kit here,” said Biff.(Picture 4) Suddenly, the magic key began to glow. The adventure began.Biff took the umbrella with her, but Chip s

13、till thought it was silly.Where would they go? What would happen?3. 朗读故事(Reading Dramatically):学会绘声绘色地朗读故事,朗读与理解相结合 承接讲故事环节,引导学生带着问题去朗读,帮助学生理解故事,抓住故事主要情节。朗读时,教师要提醒学生注意Biff的伞在冒险中起到了什么作用。(1)学生分角色朗读图片5-15,然后回答以下问题:What happened to Amys family?Why did Amy go away from her family?What happened to her? Wh

14、o did she meet?(2)请学生接龙朗读图片16-21,然后回答以下问题:How was Amy out of the trap?How did Biff frighten the bear away?(3)请学生分组朗读图片22-24,然后回答以下问题:How did the wagon train get out?Why did Biff give the umbrella to Little Fox?在朗读过程中,教师要对朗读有困难或有问题的学生给予指导和示范。如果学生课前预习效果不好,教师需在课上适当安排听录音模仿环节。4. 讨论(Discussion):遇变不慌,学会动脑筋解决问题教师利用PPT展示问题,让学生分组讨论,引导学生思考面对问题时多思考解决问题的办法。之后,请小组代表作答。问题可参考:What would you do if you met a bear?What do you think of the Indian life, for example, looking for honey, fighting bears, catching fish, maki
