Rule: The better known and more respected a speaker is, the shorter your introduction can be; and the less well-known the speaker is, the more you will need to do to arouse interest in his subject and build up his prestige

5、.Preparations for chairing the meeting make sure all the necessary arrangements be made before the meeting. rehearse your remarks several times Chairing mannersWhen chairing a meeting, you should walk confidently to the podium, stand erect, look directly at your audience, and announce the beginning

6、of the meeting. decisive and confident, to be tactful, a firm but courteous manner. Sum up or comment on the presentation when finished. Its a privilege for me to chair this session. Let me introduce myself. I am Li Jinsong from Peking University. I am the

9、 chair person for this mornings session.3. Introducing Co-chairman It is a great pleasure for me to share the chairmanship with Professor D. Harris from Stockholm, Swede. My co-chairman is Professor Bill form Milan, Italy. Dr. Yang, who was expected to be the co-chairman for this symposium, could no

10、t attend this meeting due to illness. We are honored, however, to have in his place as the co-chairman Dr. Li on my left. Dr. Li is the Director for the Nankai Linguistics Institute. We are extraordinarily pleased and honored to have him here today to cochair this meeting.4. Introducing the theme of

11、 the session The purpose/aim of our meeting today is to review the Development in ESL Teaching and Learning. What we are going to do this morning is to review the Relation Between Students Learning Strategies and Performance. We are assembled/gathered here to review the Future of Globalization. This

12、 session will deal with /be devoted to HIV Treatment and Care in the New Century.5. Introducing a keynote speaker The speakers past and present experience Our keynote speaker is Peter Roger, the president of National Intelligence Council. Previously, he served as a special advisor to the United King

13、dom Year 2000 Task Force and to the Russian Federation Task Force. From 2000 to2004, he was affiliated with the Institute for Social and Economic Policy in the Middle East at the Kennedy School of Harvard University. Dr.John Smith is a professor and the chairperson of the Food science and Technology

14、 Department at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The speakers educational background Our speaker got her ph.D. in agricultural economics at the University of California, Berkeley, followed by a series of teaching and research positions at Harvard, Cambridge University, and Princeton. Terr

15、y holds a Bachelor of Science degree in communications. He also holds a Master of Business Administration in marketing from George State University. Dr. Lees B.S. degree is from Rutgers University. His ph.D. is from University of Massachusetts under the guidance of Professor Fergus Clydesdale, a ren

16、owned food policy expert and personal mentor. The speakers achievement (works and articles) Our speaker is the author of Life of Design: A Do-It-Yourself Approach for Achieving Happiness and served as the editor and co-editor of Let Your Leadership Speak: How to Lead and Be Heard. Our speaker is als

17、o co-author of five books and over 40 published articles. As a communications expert, she has been quoted in the Seattle Times, the Chicago Tibune and the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Hika is the author of the upcoming bookDesign a Plan to Save your Life, and four more books have already been publi

18、shed. The speakers speaking experience For the past six years, Peter de Jager has been a worldwide leader in creating awareness for the year 2000 computer problem, in both the information security community and the business world at large. He has appeared on numerous TV and radio programs here and a

19、broad. Our speaker has hosted a daily TV show on the Financial News Network and has appeared on CNN and CBS, sharing his Internet expertise. The awards and honor of the speaker Our speaker has been honored many awardsa Poet Laureate, a Pulitzer Prize winner, a National Medal of the Arts and a nation

20、al Book Award, etc. Most of the American poets younger than him tend to look up to him as their guide, their leader and their surrogate father. He has earned the title of “Distinguished Toastmaster” the highest honor given by Toastmasters International. Since 1924, only 5,000 members out of five mil

I am Wu Wen from Beijing University. It is a great pleasure for me to share the chairmanship with Professor D. Harris from Stoc

29、kholm, Sweden. On behalf of the organizing committee of HIV Treatment and Care in the New Century, I would like to announce the session open. We have some of the worlds foremost clinicians and basic scientists and researchers, people at the forefront of this field. Let me introduce our first speaker

30、Professor Michael Saag, who is Director of the University of Alabama AIDS Outpatient Clinic in Birmingham, Alabama. Hes also the Associate Director of Clinical Care and Therapeutics at the University of Alabama AIDS Center. Professor Saag has published extensively in medical journals and books on th

31、e subject of basic science of HIV and clinical treatment of HIV. Hes extensively involved in AIDS treatment and policy, and his presentation is entitled “ Current Controversies in Antiviral Therapy”. Please join me in welcoming Prof. Michael Saag! From your presentation, we know that you back up the Dutch theory, that is, antiviral drugs are not preventing HIV from killing cells, but simply releasing into the blood mature CD4 cells that have been trapped elsewhere. If the Dutch team is right, the consequences could be pr
