24、ity is the only can didate that avoids any emissi ons, and in the long run, is independentof future oil shortage. The pr ese ntlyknown world oil resources last 43 years at con sta nt con sum pti on.Therefore, electricity offers the only soluti on for urba n areas.Beiji ng is one of the ten most p ol

25、luted cities in the world. In 1999 the Chin ese gover nmentin itiated the Clea n Air P roject-Clea n Vehicle Actionscheme for the research and devel opment,man ufacture, and utilizati on of electric vehicles in twelve big cities in China such as Beiji ng and Shan ghai. I have bee n heavily in volved

26、 in thisscheme to devel op electric buses for p ublic transport. Now that the R&D part of the work is comp leted, we are planning for the in frastructure devel opment.What I plan to do now is to un dertake an in ter nati onal survey of the curre nt statusin the key areas of EV supp ort in frastr
