1、Discussion on Interactive English Teaching in Junior MiddleSchoolAbstract : With the development of the CurriculumReform of Basic Education in China, the traditional English teaching method can no longer satisfy the needs of current education and thus will gradually be replaced by interactiveEnglish

This thesis aims to analyze the importance of interactive English teaching and put forward some applicable strategies for interactive Englishteaching in junior middle school so that the efficiency and quality of English teaching can be Engimproved and ultimately the whole aspects of stude

4、confidence , cultivate good learning habits , form good learning strategies , develop students autonomous learning ability and foster their cooperation spiritLiang Chengfeng&Zhang Dan, 2010) . The fact is that interactive teaching mode can help to reach these goals.Therefore, when teaching English ,

5、 especially in junior middle school , teachers should adopt interactive English teaching strategy.1) .Promote collaboration among students and arousetheir interests in English learning.The interaction during the process of cooperation amongstudentscan help to create a motivating and comfortable atmo

6、sphere for students to learn.This makes great sense because it will boost the students co-operative spirit and learning interests. But once teachers make teaching plans based merely on the curriculum , students will easily findEnglish learning is boring , which will inevitablyexert a negative influe

7、nce on both teachers and students. But , interactive teaching will eliminate this misconceptionabout English learning.2) .Enhance students quality and improve theirlearningefficiency.Just as Zheng Jinzhou ( 2007) claimed, the teachingprocess takes the physical and mental development of studentsas it

8、s main basis andstudents active learning as the core.Interactive teaching can give full play to the subject position ofstudents and build an optimal teaching mode thuscontributesto the improvement of studentsality. What qisumore , the implementation of interactive English teaching canlead teachers t

9、o change the conventionalteaching modeandmake scientific teaching plans so as to boost both teachingquality and learning efficiency.3) .Interrelate eachteaching stepand help students acquire English knowledge.The New Curriculum Standards advocates that teachersshould bind closely each stage of teach

10、ing processincludingreview , introduction , practice , and consolidation toconstruct a clear , smooth and effective interactive teachingmode. In fact , this mode can promote the quality andefficiency of classroom teaching. In addition , if students canadapt to this teaching mode naturally , they wil

11、l find it easierto master English knowledge.2、Effective Strategies of Interactive Teaching in JuniorMiddle School1) .Teacher s guidance provides a basis for interactiveteachingLiu Qicheng ( 2011) and Si Xianzhu(2011) put forwardthe idea that a teacher ought to move from the role of an instructor to

12、a supervisorandhelper. Clifton ( 2006 ) also claimed that a teacher is an assistant who should ensure students more autonomy and bear moreresponsibilities for teaching activities. These suggestionsreflect the teacher s indispensable role in interactive teaching. Teachers guidance ,to a large extent

13、, determines whether interactive teaching can be carried out effectively or not.Therefore , teachers may constantly renew their teaching knowledge , improve their teaching skills andapply them into teaching practices. Only in this way can the obstacles in interactive teaching be swept away effective

14、ly. In addition , teachers should inspire students to get involved in discussionand change the classroom into a practice place of learning and communication.2).Students autonomous learning creates conditions forinteractive teachingAccording to the English Curriculum Standards in thephase of Compulso

15、ry Education ,as a teaching activity , English education is carried out for all students that will promote students abilities of using English and the overall humanistic quality. Therefore , to form applicable strategies , students should consciously train themselves to learn autonomouslyunder the g

16、uidance of teachers. The following three methods of cultivating autonomous learning are put forward by borrowing some insights from Li Lisheng (2005) .1)To develop students awareness andwillingness ofautonomous learning.According to Littlewood ( 1999 ) the willingness and abilities of students will

17、help to determine what kind of learning attitude and strategies to be adopted by students. However , students should realize that intelligence ,age or gender cannot be the hindering elements of their study as long as they are willing to learn English withcontinuous efforts and perseverance. Besides

18、, teachers can raise questions such as “ Can you really learn English well merely through classroom learning and after-class practice ?”, orDo you know what you can benefit from autonomous learning ?” to remind students of the necessity of learningEnglish autonomously.2) To make students know thegoa

19、ls of English learning and help themto makelearning plans.The ability to learn autonomously is not innate but to be acquired, sohow to help students fosterthis ability ? In fact ,it requires teachers to assist students in working out realistic learning plans.But teachers must realize that they shoul

20、d teach students effective ways of setting reasonable targets through some revealing questions and proper demonstrations instead of making any plans for them. Only in this way , can students sense of achievement from finishing their tasks be raisedand thus they will feel more motivated to learn Engl

21、ish.3) To teach students learning strategies.Autonomouslearning strategies cannot be auto-generated but to be set up through targeted training. Therefore , strategy training , which including cognitive strategy and metacognitive strategy ,should be applied to cultivate students autonomous learning i

22、n interactive English teaching. Through cognitive strategy ,students can grasp some skills such as listening skills, reading skills, as well as oral communication skills and so on.Metacognitive strategy can help students to develop good learning habits including setting up learning plans , supervisi

23、ng learning process and evaluating learning performance. These good habits will lead them toward the goal of autonomous learning.3) .Intergroup communication is the core of interactiveteachingXue Zhonglinag (2002) claimed that the foundation ofinteraction is sharing of information and negotiation of

24、 meaning. Group interaction is the plays a critical role in interactive English teaching. But howcan a teacher apply this strategy into classroom teaching ? Firstly, a teacher should choose a group representative to share their findings from their discussion. Then members from other groups can make

25、supplement , raise doubts or give comments. Finally , all students can discuss together to find the answers. But the teacher cannot act as a non-participant observerbut a supervisor and helper to monitor the progress and make necessary supplement when it is necessary. Besides, the teacher should be

26、on alert to prevent students from digressing from the teaching point. After the discussion , the teacher needs to explain the resultsso as to make each student get correct knowledge about what they just learned. In a word ,group discussion is the coreof interactive English teaching since it inspires students to express , improves their confidence and promotes their thinking abilities and ultimately lays a solid foundation f
