3、you, new york! thank you for opening up your minds and your hearts, for seeing the possibility of what we could do together for our children and for our future here in this state and in our nation. i am profoundly grateful to all of you for giving me the chan _ to serve you. i will - i will do every

4、thing i can to be worthy of your faith and trust and to honor the powerful example of senator daniel patrick moynihan. i would like all of you and the countless new yorkers and americans watching to join me in honoring him for his incredible half _ntury of servi _ to new york and our nation. senator

5、 moynihan, on behalf of new york and america, thank you. i promise you tonight that i will reach across _ lines to bring progress for all of new yorks families. today we voted as democrats and republicans. tomorrow we begin again as new yorkers. and how fortunate we are indeed to live in the most di

6、verse, dynamic and beautiful state in the entire union. you know, from the south bronx to the southern tier, from brooklyn to buffalo, from montauk to _ssena, from the worlds tallest skyscrapers to breathtaking mountain ranges, ive met people whose fa _s and stories i will never forget. thousands of

7、 new yorkers from all 62 counties weled to me into your schools, your local diners, your factory floors, your living rooms and front porches. you taught me, you tested me and you shared with me your challenges and con _rns - about overcrowded or crumbling schools, about the struggle to care for grow

8、ing children and aging parents, about the continuing challenge of providing equal opportunity for all and about children moving away from their home towns because good jobs are so hard to find in upstate new york. now ive worked on issues like these for a long time, some of them for 30 years, and i

9、am determined to _ke a differen _ for all of you. you see, i believe our nation owes every responsible citizen and every responsible family the tools that they need to _ke the most of their own lives. thats the basic bargain. ill do my best to honor in the united states senate. and to those of you w

10、ho did not support me, i want you to know that i will work in the senate for you and for all new yorkers. and to those of you who worked so hard and never lost faith even in the toughest times, i offer you my undying gratitude. in order to protect our enviro _ent from being polluted, i will do some

11、publicity with my class _tes to explain the harmfulneof pollution.through this people will be able to realize the serious pollution hu _n beings have _de to the nature and realize the importan _ of a clean enviro _ent. in future they will redu _ pollution in their daily life. harmony with the enviro

12、 _ent is that we live in on earth, who is a natural son, and not only to natural persons as the conqueror, as we all know, there is only one earth and the mountains on earth, the ani _ls. plant hu _n _lls, if it da _ged, destroyed nature organizations, to the eradication of _nkind. therefore, the en

13、viro _ent must be linked with social ethics, character education and practi _ acts as an important element of it. everyone must fulfil its responsibilities and obligations to protect the enviro _ent. enviro _ental problems are being more and more serious all over the world. for example, cars have _d

14、e the air unhealthy for people to breathe and poisonous gas is given off by factories. trees on the hills have been cut down and waste water is being poured continuously into rivers.furthermore, wherever we go today, we can find rubbish carelessly disposed. pollution is, in fact, threatening our exi

15、sten _. the earth is our home and we have the duty to take care of it for ourselves and for our later generations. fortunately, more and more people have realized these problems. measures have been taken to cope with these problems by the gover _ent. laws have been passed to stop pollution. i hope t

16、he problem will be solved in the near future and our home will bee better and better. my definition of suess today i am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of suess. what is suess? it is what everyone is longing for.sometimes suess would be rather _. winning a game is suess; getting a hi

18、he realization of people s hopes and ideals.nowadays, in the modern society there are _ny people who are regarded as the suessful. and the most obvious characteristics of hem are money, high position and luxurious life. so most people believe that s suess and all that they do is for this purpose. bu

19、t the problem is wether it is real suess. we all know there are always more money, higher position and better condition in front of us. if we keep chasing them, where is the end? what will satisfy us at last? therefore, we can see, to get the real suess we must need something inside, which is the re

20、alization of people hopes and ideals. different people have different ideas about suess; cause peoples hopes and ideas vary from one another. but i am sure every suess is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to e by, cause in the pro _ss of our striving for suess, we got both our body and soul te

21、mpted, meanwhile we are enlightened by the most valuable qualities of hu _n beings: love, patient, courage and sense of responsibility. these are the best treasures. so now i am very proud that i have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you. it is my suess, cause i raise up to challeng
