The text is limited to 2700 words, with an abstract, a maximum of 5 tables and figures (total), and up to 40 references. Special Articles are scientific reports of original research in such areas as economic policy, ethics, law, and health care delivery. The text is limited to 2700 words, with an abstract, a maximum of 5 tables and figures (total), and up to 40 references. b) CLINICAL CASES Brief Reports usually describe one to three patients or a single family. The text is limited to 2000 words, a maximum of 3 tables and figures (total), and up to 25 references. They begin with a brief summary of no more than 100 words. Clinical Problem-Solving manuscripts consider the step-by-step process of clinical decision making. Information about a patient is presented to an expert clinician or clinicians in stages (indicated by boldface type in the manuscript) to simulate the way such information emerges in clinical practice. The clinician responds (in regular type) as new information is presented, sharing his or her reasoning with the reader. The text should not exceed 2500 words, and there should be no more than 20 references. The use of clinical illustrative materials, such as x-ray films, is encouraged. Case Records of the Massachusetts General Hospital are solicited by the Case Records editors. c) REVIEW ARTICLES Review articles are usually solicited by the editors, but we will consider unsolicited material. Please contact the editorial office before writing a review article for the Journal. All review articles undergo the same peer-review and editorial process as original research reports. They should be written for the general physician, not specialists. Consequently, they may include material that might be considered too introductory for specialists in the field being covered.,Chinese Medical Journal,举例 Ann Intern Med,Established in 1927 by the American College of Physicians (ACP), Annals of Internal Medicine is the premier internal medicine journal. Annals of Internal Medicines mission is to promote excellence in the clinical practice of internal medicine, to help physicians be well-informed citizens of the medical community and society, and to publish information that helps to advance the health of people worldwide. To achieve this mission, the journal publishes a wide variety of original research, review articles, practice guidelines, and commentary relevant to clinical practice, health care delivery, public health, health care policy, medical education, ethics, and research methodology. In addition, the journal publishes personal narratives that convey the feeling and the art of medicine. Annals of Internal Medicine has a large readership that includes the over 129,000 members of the American College of Physicians and many more physicians and researchers worldwide who read the journal via institutional subscriptions. Our 2008 impact factor of 17.5 makes the Annals of Internal Medicine one of the most cited general medical journals in the world. Material published in Annals is subject to peer review and the journal greatly appreciates the efforts of the over 17,000 volunteers in our reviewer database who provide critical input into our peer review process. Acceptance rates for original research range from 6-8% in recent years. Annals of Internal Medicine publishes new issues twice a month on the first and third Tuesday of each month.,IF:17.457,Chinese Medical Journal,选刊实例讨论,Mortality attributable to smoking in China. BACKGROUND: Smoking is a risk factor for many diseases and has been increasingly prevalent in economically developing regions of the world. We aimed to estimate the number of deaths attributable to smoking in China. METHODS: We conducted a large, prospective cohort study in a nationally representative sample of 169,871 Chinese adults who were 40 years of age or older. Investigators for the China National Hypertension Survey collected data on smoking and other risk factors at a baseline examination in 1991 using a standard protocol. Follow-up evaluation was conducted in 1999 and 2000, with a response rate of 93.4%. We used multivariable-adjusted relative risk, prevalence of smoking, mortality, and population size in each age group, stratified according to sex, to calculate the number of deaths attributable to smoking in 2005. RESULTS: CONCLUSIONS: Our study documents that smoking is a major risk factor for mortality in China. Continued strengthening of national programs and initiatives for smoking prevention and cessation is needed to reduce smoking-related deaths in China.,N Engl J Med. 2009 Jan 8;360(2):150-9.,Chinese Medical Journal,选刊实例讨论,Biventricular Pacing in Patients with Bradycardia and Normal Ejection Fraction . BACKGROUND: Observational studies suggest that conventional right ventricular apical pacing may have a deleterious effect on left ventricular function. In this study, we examined whether biventricular pacing is superior to right ventricular apical pacing in preventing deterioration of left ventricular systolic function and cardiac remodeling in patients with bradycardia and a normal ejection fraction. METHODS: In this prospective, double-blind, multicenter study, we randomly assigned 177 patients in whom a biventricular pacemaker had been successfully implanted to receive biventricular pacing (89 patients) or right ventricular apical pacing (88 patients). The primary end points were the left ventricular ejection fraction and left ventricular end-systolic volume at 12 months. RESULTS: CONCLUSIONS: In patients with normal systolic function, conventional right ventricular apical pacing resulted in adverse left ventricular remodeling and in a reduction in the left ventricular ejection fraction; these effects were prevented by biventricular pacing.
