receivewhenselling$20,000-worthofcorporatebondsandwhatthey

WhentradesarereportedthroughtheNASD,accordingtothestudy,

tradingcostsfallby10%to14%.Andthatisonlyastart,because

theNASDsystemisglaciallyslow,reportingpriceswitha30-minute

delay.Meanwhile,onlydealersknowwherethemarketistrading.

Withimmediatedisclosure,saysMrHarris,transactioncostswould

undoubtedlyfallfarther.Thebenefits,henotes,wouldnotbejust

toinvestorsbuttocompanies,becauselowersalescostswouldmake

theirdebtmoreattractivetobuyers.Bonddealershavelong
