7我们已经知道，过去进行时表示过去某一时刻或时间段正在进行或持续的动作。过去进行时还可以和when,

while或as引导的过去时间状语从句连用形成复合句。

when

和while

都可表示主从句的动作或状态同时发生，但二者用法不尽相同。

（1）when和while

的区别

在when

引导的时间状语从句中，谓语动词可以是终止性动词，也可以是延续性动词，从句可以是进行时态也可以是非进行时态；而在while引导的时间状语从句中，谓语动词必须是延续性动词，从句常用进行时态。例如：

我们正讲话，老师（突然）进来了。

arrived

dinner.

我们正在吃饭的时候他们到了。

（2）when引导的时间状语从句与主句的时态。主句when从句过去进行时一般过去时一般过去时过去进行时

【注意】延续性动词用过去进行时，终止性动词用一般过去时。

（3）while

引导的时间状语从句与主句的时态。主句while从句一般过去时过去进行时过去进行时过去进行时

例如：
