英语语法EnglishGrammar娄底职业技术学院LoudiVocationalandTechnicalCollege应用英语专业资源库ResourceLibraryofAppliedEnglish谓语动词根据实际情况使用单复数根据实际情况使用单、复数(1)两个名词前加the，表示两个人，谓语动词用复数；如果只在一个名词前加the,则表示同一类人或事物，这时谓语动词要用单数。例如：Thesingerandtheteacherhavecome.Theownerandmanagerofthecompanyismyfriend.Thewriterandfilmmaker,HenrySmith,disagrees.(2)在英语中，有些集体名词，如：army,audience,committee,community,company,enemy,family,government,group,jury,navy,public,staff,team等，其后既可用单数动词，也可用复数动词。一般来说，如果将这个集体看作是一个整体，动词用单数；如果把它看作构成该群体的若干个体，则动词用复数。例如：Thecommitteehasdecidedtodismisshim.Thegovernmenthastakenaction.Ourfamilyisn’tpooranymore.Mystaffarealltall.(3)表示百分数和分数的结构，如twothirdsof,ninetypercentof等引起主语时，动词的数取决于of后的名词或代词。例如：Oversixtypercentofthecitywasdestroyedduringthewar.Athirdofthestudentsinthisclassaregirls.Three-fourthsofthesurfaceoftheearthissea.(4)由单位词加of构成的词组，如apileof,aseriesof,asetof,astackof等引起主语时，动词通常用单数。例如：Apileofdirtyclothesliesbythewashingmachine.Asubstantialportionofthereportsismissing.(5)一些表示数量的词语，如allof,halfof,alotof,mostof,noneof,someof等引导主语时，动词的数要与of后的名词或代词一致。例如：Mostofthestudentsaretakinganactivepartinsports.Halfofhisworkisdone.Halfofthebooksarenovels.Noneofthefurniturewaswet.两类特殊的复数名词，因为它们所指的东西总是由两部分组成，通常都以-s结尾。如：

表示服装和其它穿戴的复数名词，如glasses,jeans,overalls,pants,shorts(宽短裤),stockings,spectacles,sunglasses,trousers,underpants(内裤)等,这些词通常要求跟随复数动词。例如：Jeansarewornbywomenaswellasbymen.Stockingscomeuptothemid-thighandareusuallyheldinplacewithsuspenders.指工具和其他器物的复数名词，如compasses,scissors,pliers,scales.clippers等，这些词通常也要求跟随复数动词。例如;Thescissorsareintheupperdrawerofthedesk.Heworeapairofblacktrousers,whichwerealittletoolongforhim.【注意】如果有apairof修饰时，谓语则用单数形式。例如：Apairofglovesisanicepresent.(7)“the+形容词/过去分词”用作主语时，表示一类人时，谓语动词用复数形式；而指个别人时，要看作单数，谓语动词用复数形式。这一类词主要有：thepoor,thedeaf,thesick,theunemployed,thelearned,thedying,thebeloved等。例如：Thericharenotalwayshappierthanthepoor.Theunemployedarelosinghope.Theblindaretaughtskillsinspecialschools.Thesick(man)wasfoundguilty.(8)“theonlyoneof+名词”后面定语从句的谓语用单数；“oneof+名词”后面定语从句的谓语用复数。例如：Maryisoneofthosewhoalwayscomefirst.Heistheonlyoneoftheboyswhoisinterestedinplayingchess.Heisoneoftheboyswhoareinterestedinplayingchess.Tomwastheonlyoneofthemwhowaswillingtohelp.(9)“anumberof+复数名
