ArecenthistoryoftheChicagomeat-packingindustryanditsworkersexamineshowthe
industrygrewfromitsappearanceinthe1830sthroughtheearly1890s.Meat-packers,theauthor

packing-houses,anddidnotcooperatewithlaboragitatorssincelaborrelationsweresoharmonious.
