Theresultsprovidethefirstindependentlineofevidence,usingdataotherthan

radar,thatthereisliquidwaterbeneathMars*southpolaricecap.

“Thecombinationofthenewevidence,ourcomputermodelresults,andtheradar

datamakesitmuchmorelikelythatatleastoneareaofliquidwaterbeneaththeice

capexistsonMarstoday,andthatMarsmuststillbegeothermally(地热)activein

ordertokeepthewaterbeneaththeicecapliquid."saidProfessorNeilArnold,who
