TouchTheparallelcapacitorCS1isaddedtoCS1andCS8toCS8toadjustsensitivity.ThesensitivitywillbeincreasedwhensmallervalueofCSisused.(RefertothebelowSensitivityExampleFigure)Itcouldbeusefulincasedetailsensitivitymediationisrequired.TheTS08NhasthreestepssensitivityanditisavailabletocontrolwithCDEGpin.(Referto6.3CDEGimplementationchapters)TheTS08NhaseightindependenttouchsensorinputfromCS1toCS8.Theinternaltouchdecisionprocessofeachchannelisseparatedfromeachother.ThereforeeightchanneltouchkeyboardapplicationcanbedesignedbyusingonlyoneTS08Nwithoutcouplingproblem.TheRSisserialconnectionresistortoavoidmal-functionfromexternalsurgeandESD.(Itmightbeoptional.)From200Ωto1kΩisrecommendedforRS.ThesizeandshapeofPADmighthaveinfluenceonthesensitivity.ThesensitivitywillbeoptimalwhenthesizeofPADisapproximatelyanhalfofthefirstknuckle(it’sabout10㎜x7TheconnectionlineofCS1andCS2totouchPADisrecommendedtoberoutedasshortaspossibletopreventfromabnormaltouchdetectcausedbyconnectionline.SensitivityexamplefigureatHighCDEGCDEG N.C.:NormalCDEG GND:HigherTheTS08Nhasinternalthresholdlevelstodetectthecapacitancevariationforthedecisionoftouching.TheoneoftwostepsensitivityisdecidedbyCDEGpinconnection.ThesensitivityisdecidedbyCDEGpinasbelowtable.ThehighsensitivityisnotrecommendedinnoisyCDEGConnectionvs.SensitivityCDEGNotConnecttoSYNC/OPTSingleThispinwillbeassignedfortheoutputoptionselection.ItwilldecidethatTS08Nisworkingonsingleormultitouchdetectionmode.Itshouldbeimplementedasbelowforthese.SYNC/OPT(SingleModeSYNC/OPT
(MultiModeMultiOvertwoTS08NcanworkontheoneapplicationatthesametimethankstoSYNCfunctionwiththispin.TheSYNCpulsepreventsovertwosensingsignalfrominterferingwitheachother.RSYNCispull-downresistorofSYNC/OPTpin.ToobigvalueofRSYNCmakestheSYNCpulsefallingdelay,andtoosmallvalueofRSYNCmakesrisingdelay.TypicalvalueofRSYNCis2MΩ.TheSyncpinshouldbeimplementedasbelow.TheTS08NcanalsobeusedwiththeotherTSxxseriesbyemployingthisSYNCfunction.TheTS08Ncouldonlyoperateonmultioutputmodeinthisconfiguration.SYNC/OPT1st2ndTS08NorRESETTS08Nhasinternaldatalatches,soinitialstateoftheselatchesmustberesetbyexternalresetpulsebeforenormaloperationstarts.TheresetpulsecanbecontrolledbyhostMCUdirectlyorotherresetdevice.Ifnot,thecircuitshouldbecomposedasbelowfigure.TheresetpulsemusthavehighpulsedurationaboutafewmsectocoverpowerVDDrisingtime.TherecommendedvalueofRRSTandCRSTare330KΩand100nF.RESETRecommendedresetcircuitsThebetterperformanceiswarrantedwithbelowresetcircuit.TheQ1isturnedonandmakesresetpulsewhenpowerisonandVDDisraisedtooperatingvoltage.Afterafewmsec(durationtimeisdeterminedbyR7,R8,C5),Q1isturnedoffandTS08Ncanbeoperatedwithnormalsensitivity.RecommendedresetcircuitsOutputCircuit
TheOUTPUTpinshaveanopendrainstructure.Forthisreason,theconnectionofpull-upresistorROUTisrequiredbetweenOUTPUTandVDD.Themaximumoutputsinkcurrentis4mA,sooverafewkΩmustbeusedasROUT.Normally10kΩisusedasROUT.TheOUTPUTishighinnormalsituation,andthevalueislowwhenatouchisdetectedonthecorrespondingCS.IMP_SEL(SenseLineImpedance)IMP_SEL(SenseLineLowImpedanceIMP_SEL(SenseLineHighImpedanceThesenseinputimpedancemightbeselectedbytheIMP_SELpin.Incaseofmultichanneltouchsensorapplication,thesenselinescouldbedrawingsidebysidewithverysmallgap.Inthiscase,thesensitivitycouldbeaffectedbytheneighborchannelduringoutofscanning.ThereforetheconnectionofIM_SELpinisrecommendedtoconnectwithVDD(lowimpedancemode).Intheothercase,thehighimpedancemode(connectionwithGND)hasanadvantageforsensitivity.RecommendedCircuitTheVDDperiodicvoltagerippleover50mVandtheripplefrequencyislowerthan10kHzcancausewrongsensitivitycalibration.Topreventaboveproblem,power(VDD,GND)lineofTS08Nshouldbeseparatedfromothercircuit.EspeciallyLEDdriverpowerlineordigitalswitchingcircuitpowerlinecertainlyshouldbetreatedtobeseparatedfromthatofTS08N.WhenTS08Nusedinnoisyenvironment,lowerRBresistorisInPCBlayout,RBIASpatternshouldnotbeplacedontouchpattern.Ifnot,CBhastobeconnected.TheRBIASpatternshouldberoutedasshortaspossible.TheCSpatternsalsoshouldberoutedasshortaspossibleandthewidthofthelinemightbeabout0.25mm.TheCSpatternroutingshouldbeformedbybottommetal(oppositemetaloftouchThecapacitorthatisbetweenVDDandGNDisanobligation.ItshouldbelocatedascloseaspossiblefromTS08N.TheemptyspaceofPCBmustbefilledwithGNDpatterntostrengthenGNDpatternandtopreventexternalnoisefrominterferewithsensingfrequency.ThesensitivitycanbechangedbyconnectionofCDEG.(See6.3CDEGimplementationchapter)TheTS08NisresetifRESETpinishigh.(See6.5Resetimplementationchapter)TheOUT1~OUT8areopendrainoutputports.Thereforethepull-upresistorshouldbeneededasabovefigure.TheTS08NisworkingwithsingleoutputmodeifSYNCpinishighanditwillbeinmultioutputmodewhenSYNCpinislow.Theresistor(2MΩ)whichisconnectedSYNCpintoGNDisrequiredforSYNCoperation.(See6.4SYNC/OPTimplementation)UnusedCSpinsmaybeconnectedtoGNDforstableoperation.InthatcaseTS08Noperatesinfastsensingmodeandneedsmorecurrent.T4T3T2PadPadPad1111 1111
