Czar'sfamilyhadbeenexecuted,therewererumorssuggestingthatAnastasia

hadsurvived.Overtheyears,anumberofwomenclaimedtobeGrandDuchess

Anastasia.Perhapsthebest-knownclaimantwasAnastasiaTschaikovsky,whowas

alsoknownasAnnaAnderson.

In1920,eighteenmonthsaftertheCzar'sexecution,this

terrifiedyoungwomanwasrescuedfromdrowninginaBerlinriver.Shespent

twoyearsinahospital,wheresheattemptedtoreclaimherhealthand

shatteredmind.ThedoctorsandnursesthoughtthatsheresembledAnastasiaand

questionedhearaboutherbackground.Shedisclaimedanyconnectionwiththe

Czar'sfamily.

Eightyearslater,though,sheclaimedthatshewas

Anastasia.ShesaidthatshehadbeenrescuedbytwoRussiansoldiersafterthe
