Oracle’sSiebelConnectorforIAA-XMLprovidesintegrationbetweenOracle’sSiebelBusinessApplicationsandotherIAA(InsuranceApplicationArchitecture)basedbusinessmodelssuchasCustomerInformationIntegrationSolutions(CIIS)orotherapplicationswhichsupportIAA-XMLstandard.TheSiebelConnectorforIAA-XMLisaconfigurablesetofcomponentsthatyoucanusetoexchangedatabetweenSiebelBusinessApplicationsandexternalIAAbasedapplicationsanddatabases.

IAAaresetofbusinessdatamodelsbuilttosupportinsuranceindustry.IAA-XMLisIBM'smessagingarchitecturestandardforinsuranceindustry.Itallowsdifferentapplicationshavingdifferentdatamodelsandrunningondifferenttechnologiestocommunicate.IAA-XMLhas3keybenefitsthataddresstheproblemsininterapplicationcommunications:

IAA-XMLprovidesamessagingstandardforinter-applicationcommunicationsfortheinsuranceandfinancialservicesindustries.Forexample,whentwocompaniesmerge,IAA-XMLcanbeusedasthestandardforthedesignofmessagesinahuboraspokearchitecture,providingthemechanismforintegratingsystemsbuiltondifferentplatforms.Itcanalsobeusedasawayofopeningsystemstobusinesspartners.Forexample,communicationbetweenafinancialservicescompanyanditsexternalnetworkofintermediaries.

TheSiebelConnectorforIAA-XMLisresponsibleforreceiving,parsingandprocessingthebusinessoperationsspecifiedintheXMLmessagethatconformstothespecificationdetailedoutintheIAA-XMLspecificationdocument.ThisintegrationofferspowerfulcapabilitiesdesignedtomeetalltheIAAmessagespecificationrequirements.ThissolutionallowsyoutoeffectivelyharnessthesynergiesbetweenSiebelfrontofficeapplicationsandIAAbasedapplications.TheSiebelConnectorforIAA-XMLextendsSiebelapplicationstointegratewithbackofficedataandbusinessprocesses.

TheSiebelConnectorforIAA-XMLsupportsbothsynchronousandasynchronoustransactionsacrossapplicationboundaries.Theresultingconsistencyandsharingofdataallowsefficientcoordinationbetweenfrontandbackofficeoperations.Forexample,salesandserviceprofessionalscanenterpolicyinformationinOracle’sSiebelFinancialServicesapplicationsandreceivereal-timeresponsewithaquoteforthepolicyentered.ThesalesorserviceprofessionalcanthencompleteenteringthepolicydetailsthroughtheSiebelapplicationinterfacebycompletingtherequirementsandissuingthepolicytothecustomer.

Eachstandardintegrationorcustomintegrationisbasedonthecreationofbusinessdataflows.AbusinessdataflowcontrolsthewholetransformationofanIAAbaseddataobjecttoaSiebeldataobjectandaSiebeldataobjecttoanIAAbaseddataobject.

TheprocessingflowforeachofthesebusinessdataflowislargelycontainedwithinaSiebelworkflowprocess.TheworkflowprocessistheninitiatedbytheSiebelEventManager,orbyacallfromOracle’sSiebeleScriptbasedonanactionperformedwithinSiebelBusinessApplicationstoprocessthedatainanoutboundscenario.Inaninboundscenario,theworkflowwillbeinstantiatedbytheBusinessIntegrationManager.

IntegrationObjects

IntegrationobjectsarethedatacontainersusedwithintheWorkflowenvironment.TheyrepresentthedatastructureofeitheraSiebelBusinessObjectoranexternalapplication'sdataobject.YoucancreateintegrationobjectswiththeIntegrationObjectBuilderprovidedinOracle’sSiebelTools.TheIntegrationObjectBuildercancreateSiebelIntegrationObjectsfromSiebelBusinessObjects.ForIAAintegrationprocessyouneedtoselecttheFINSIAAWizardasawizardtobuildyourintegrationobjects.ThiswizardreadsanIAA-XMLDocumentTypeDefinition(DTD)andcreatestheenvelopeandheaderintegrationobjects,therequiredexternalintegrationobjectsaswellastherequiredinternalintegrationobjects.Itthenassociatesalloftheseintherule-baseddispatchermap.Fordetails,see

BusinessServices

Businessservicesexecutepredefinedorcustomactionsinaworkflowprocess.ExamplesofbusinessservicesincludetheFINSIAA-XMLTransactionManager,theSiebelEAIAdapter,theFINSIAA-XMLConverter,andsoon.Thesebusinessservicesactonpropertysetspassedtothem.Theyperformbusinesslogicoperationssuchasinterfacingwithdatabase,interfacingtoIAA-XMLbasedsystems,ortransformingoneintegrationobjectintoanother.Oracleprovidesmanybusinessservicesbutyoucancreateyourown.Althoughyoucanusebusinessservicestoperformmanydifferentfunctions,theyallhaveastandardinterface.Businessserviceshaveobject-likequalities,suchasmethods,methodarguments,anduserproperties.Theseelementsdefinehowabusinessservicecanbeused.BusinessservicesaredefinedinSiebelTools.ThisguidedescribesthosebusinessservicesusedtointerfacetoIAA-XMLbasedsystems.
