DutchgovernmentsandtheEuropeanCommission.

“Whilemanygoodandusefulclaimsarebeingmade,itisclearthereisalong

waytogoinensuringshoppersareadequatelyinformedabouttheenvironmental

Thereportfocusedonclaimsmadebyspecificproducts,suchasdetergent(洗涤剂)

insectspraysandbysomegardenproducts.Itdidnottesttheclaims,but

comparedthemtolabelingguidelinessetbytheInternationalStandards

Organization(ISO)inSeptember,1999.

Researchersdocumentedclaimsofenvironmentalfriendlinessmadebyabout2,000

productsandfoundmanytoovagueortoomisleadingtomeetISOstandards.

“Manyproductshadspecially-designedlabelstomakethemseemenvironmentally

friendly,butinfactmanyofthesesymbolsmeannothing,”saidreport

researcherPhilipPage.

“Laundrydetergentsmadethemostnumberofclaimswith158.Householdcleaners
