9、gethicsisbecominganewdisciplinethatholdsitsplaceinuniversityeducation.Thereisgrowingexpectationbyspecialists(Chubinetal2005,DavisonandKock2004)andthepublicatlargetoenhanceprofessionalethicseducationinuniversitiesbyincorporateitintoimprovedacademiccurriculum.Symposia,workshopsandseminarscouldbearrang
10、edtopromoteprofessionalengineeringethics.Theybelieveprofessionalmoralityandresponsibilityshouldbeintroducedearlytoengineeringmajors.Itisalsoaprofessionalmustforengineeringgraduatestofamiliarizethemselveswithengineeringcodeofethicspriortobeingpractitioners.However,knowledgeofrightandwrongisatmosthalf
11、ofthebattle.Agoodengineeringprofessionalalsoneedsotherqualitieslikeself-discipline,conscientiousness,integrityandprofessionaldignity,whichcanhardlybeacquiredbysimpleindoctrinizationorsheerbrainwashing.Johnstonetal(2000)advocatespractice-focusedethicsinengineeringeducationforthattheprofessionalethics
12、beingacceptedwell,itcouldbemadeanindispensablepartoftheiracademicpractice.Inuniversities,engineeringmajors,undergraduatesorpostgraduates,aredoingexperiments,conductingresearches,handlingprojectsandwritingpaperstoconcludetheirpracticalwork.Byhandlingthesepracticaltasks,theylearntoestablishtheirprofes
13、sionalismbyapplyingtheirknowledgetopracticeanddevelopingsomepracticalskills.Meanwhiletheyarealsolearningtoadopttheirwayofthinking,theirmindsetandtheirattitudeasarealprofessional.Inotherwords,theyarealsoestablishingtheirprofessionalismbydevelopingthoseindispensableprofessionalqualitieslikeself-discip
