3、hat Intal Spincaps are used forThe name of your medicine is Intal Spincaps. It contains the active ingredient sodium cromoglycate and is used with a Spinhaler device. Sodium cromoglycate is a white powder inhaled into the lungs to reduce inflammation and prevent asthma including exercise-related ast

4、hma.People with asthma have extra sensitive airways. The lining of the lungs becomes inflamed (red and swollen, making it harder to breathe. This may be due to an allergy to house dust mites, smoke, air-borne pollution or other irritants.Intal Spincaps is a preventativemedicine for adults and childr

5、en thatrequires regular usage for fullbenefit. By using Intal Spincapsregularly even when you feel well,asthma can be controlled and mostattacks prevented.Intal Spincaps will not relieve thesymptoms of an asthma attack afterthe attack has started.You should follow your doctor'sadvice and prescri

6、bed treatment inthe event of a sudden asthma attack.Your doctor may have prescribedIntal Spincaps for another reason.Ask your doctor if you have anyquestions about why Intal Spincapshas been prescribed for you.Intal Spincaps is available only witha doctor's prescription.There is no evidence that

7、 IntalSpincaps is addictive.Before you use IntalSpincapsWhen you must not use itDo not use Intal Spincaps if youhave an allergy to sodiumcromoglycate.Signs of an allergic reaction mayinclude wheezing, shortness ofbreath, swelling of the face, lips ortongue which may cause difficulty inswallowing or

8、breathing, hives,itching or skin rash or fainting.Do not use Intal Spincaps to treatan acute asthma attack.Do not use Intal Spincaps after theexpiry date printed on the pack.If you use this medicine after theexpiry date has passed, it may notwork as well.Do not use Intal Spincaps if thepackaging is

9、torn or shows signs oftampering or if the Spincaps do notlook quite right.If you are not sure whether youshould start using Intal Spincaps,talk to your doctor.Before you start to use itIt is advisable to ask your doctor towrite an asthma management plan foryou before you start to use IntalSpincapsIn

10、tal Spincaps is one part of a generalplan for you to handle your asthma.Discuss and check your asthma planregularly with your doctor.Tell your doctor if you have anyallergies to:any other medicinesany other substances such asfoods, preservatives or dyes.Tell your doctor if you arepregnant or intend

11、to becomepregnant.Your doctor will discuss the possiblerisks and benefits of using IntalSpincaps during pregnancy.Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding or intend to breast-feed.Your doctor will discuss the possiblerisks and benefits of using IntalSpincaps during breast-feeding.Intal Spincaps ar

12、e not known to be harmful in pregnancy; however, it does pass into breast milk. Therefore, if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you should discuss with your doctor the risks or benefits involved before using Intal Spincaps.Taking other medicinesTell your doctor if you are taking any other medicine

13、s, including any medicines you buy without a prescription from a pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop. Intal Spincaps can be used with other medicines which are used to prevent or treat asthma.SpincapsIntal Spincaps must be administered by means of a Spinhaler device which delivers the medicine

14、 directly to your lungs.Intal Spincaps used for the treatment of asthma are not to be swallowed.If you are not sure how to use Intal Spincaps or the Spinhaler device, ask your doctor or pharmacist.Follow all directions given to you by your doctor or pharmacist carefully.They may differ from the info

Children should only use Intal Spincaps and the Spinhaler device on medical advice and with the help of an adult.How much to useYour doctor will tell you how many Intal Spincaps you will need to use each day. This depends on your condition, your potential exposure

16、to trigger factors for your asthma and whether you are using/taking any other medicines.How to useHow to load the Intal SpinhalerFirst make sure your hands are cleanand dry. Tear open the sachet andpress out a Spincap through the foil.Load the Spinhaler as follows:1.Hold the Spinhaler upright withth

17、e mouthpiece pointingdownwards; then unscrew thebody.2.Check that the propeller is on itsspindle, then firmly push an IntalSpincap (coloured enddownwards into the cup of thepropeller. Make sure that thepropeller spins easily and thenscrew the body tightly back ontothe mouthpiece.3.Still holding the

18、Spinhalerupright, slide the outer sleevedown as far as it will go and thenback up again. This pierces theSpincap and makes the Spinhalerready for use. This step may berepeated a second time foroptimal piercing.How to inhale Intal1.Make sure the mouthpiece andthe body of the Spinhaler are stilltightl

19、y screwed together.2.Breathe out, put the mouthpiecein your mouth and close your lipsaround it so that they are right upagainst the lip of the Spinhaler.3.Tilt your head well back andbreathe in as deeply as you can.This is very important.4.Hold your breath for as long ascomfortable, then take theSpi

20、nhaler right out of your mouthand breathe out.5.Keep repeating this process untilthe Spincap is empty. Two orthree attempts should be enoughand it does not matter if a littlepowder is left.6.If you have a little irritation inyour throat afterwards, have adrink of water.How to look after yourSpinhale

21、rFor best results, all parts of theSpinhaler must be kept free from anypowder residue. Wash your Spinhalerin warm water once a week, takingcare to remove the snap fit propellerfirst. Dry overnight in a warm place,clicking the propeller firmly backinto place before re-using it. Alwaysinspect your Spi

22、nhaler before use andbe careful to remove any dust orother particles which may be insidebefore inhaling through it.How long to use itFor people using Intal Spincaps tocontrol asthma symptoms, IntalSpincaps must be used every day.Continue using Intal Spincaps foras long as your doctorrecommends.Do no

23、t stop using it unless yourdoctor or pharmacist tells you to,even if you feel better.If you forget to use itIf you forget to use your IntalSpincaps, use it as soon as youremember, and then go back to usingyour medicine as you wouldnormally.If you are not sure what to do, askyour pharmacist or doctor

24、.If you have trouble rememberingto use your medicine, ask yourpharmacist for some hints to helpyou remember.If you use too much(overdoseImmediately telephone your doctoror the Poisons Information Centre(13 11 26 in Australia or 0800 764766 in New Zealand, or go toAccident and Emergency at yourneares

25、t hospital, if you think thatyou or anyone else has used toomany Intal Spincaps. Do this evenif there are no signs of discomfortor poisoning.You may need urgent medicalattention.While you are using Intal SpincapsThings you must doIf you have an Asthma Action Plan that you have agreed with your docto

26、r, follow it closely at all times. Continue using Intal Spincaps for as long as your doctor or pharmacist tells you to.Visit your doctor regularly to check on your asthma condition. Tell any other doctors, dentists and pharmacists who are treating you that you are using Intal Spincaps. If you are ab

27、out to start on any new medicine, tell your doctor or pharmacist that you are using Intal Spincaps.If you become pregnant while using Intal Spincaps, tell your doctor or pharmacist.Tell your doctor if, for any reason, you have not used your medicine exactly as prescribed. Otherwise, your doctor may

28、think that it was not effective and change your treatment unnecessarily.Tell your doctor if you feel the medicine is not helping your condition.Things you must not doDo not take any other medicines for your breathing problems without first checking with your doctor.Do not give this medicine to anyon

29、e else, even if they have the same condition as you.Do not use Intal Spincaps to treat any other complaints unless your doctor tells you to.Do not stop using Intal Spincaps, or lower the dose, without first checking with your doctor.Do not use Intal Spincaps to relieveacute attacks of asthma. If you

30、become wheezy or tight in the chestbefore your next dose of IntalSpincaps is due, use a 'relieverpuffer' in the usual, recommendedway.Do not let yourself run out ofmedicine over the weekend or onholidays.Things to be careful ofBe careful driving or operatingmachinery until you know howIntal

31、Spincaps affects you.Side effectsTell your doctor or pharmacist assoon as possible if you do not feelwell while you are using IntalSpincaps.All medicines can have side effects.Sometimes they are serious, most ofthe time they are not. You may needmedical treatment if you get some ofthe side effects.A

32、sk your doctor or pharmacist anyquestions you may have.If you get any side effects, do notstop using Intal Spincaps withoutfirst talking to your doctor orpharmacist.Tell your doctor if you notice anyof the following and they worryyou:sore throatcoughnarrowing of the airwaysThese side effects are usu

33、ally mild.Rare side effects may include:headachestomach paindiarrhoeapainful jointssore musclesskin rashesswelling with fluid in tissuesOther side effects not listed abovemay also occur in some patients.Tell your doctor if you noticeanything that is making you feelunwell.Do not be alarmed by this li

34、st ofpossible side effects.You may not experience any of them.After using IntalSpincapsStorageKeep the Intal Spincaps in theblister pack until it is time to usethem.If you take the Spincaps out of thepacket or the blister pack they willnot keep as well.Keep your Intal Spincaps in a cooldry place where it stays below30ºC.Always keep your Spinhaler in itscontainer.
