Question:The Romantic story Long long ago, there was an honest and kind-hearted fellow named Niu Lang .His parents died when he was a child. Later he was driven out of his home by his sister-in-law. So he lived by farming with an

3、 old cow. One day, The magical cow kindly told him a way to find a beautiful and nice woman as his life companion. Under the direction of the cow, Niu Lang went to the riverside on an evening. This evening the seven fairies left heaven to bathe. He took one of the beautiful silk dresses the fairies

4、had left on the bank. When the fairies left the water, the youngest couldnt find her clothes and had to see her sisters fly back to heaven without her. Then Niu Lang came out with the dress and asked the youngest fairy, Zhi Nu, to stay with him. Zhi Nu fell in love with him and came down secretly to

5、 earth and married him. So Niu Lang farmed in the field and the Zhi Nu wove at home. They lived a happy life and had a son and a daughter. Unfortunately, the God of Heaven soon found out the fact and ordered the Queen Mother to bring Zhi Nu back. With the help of magical cow , Niu Lang flew to heave

6、n with his son and daughter. At the time when he was about to catch up with his wife, the Queen Mother took off one of her gold hairpins and made a stroke. One river appeared in front of Niu Lang . Niu Lang and Zhi Nu were separated on the two banks forever. Their loyalty to love touched magpies, so

7、 thousands of magpies came to build a bridge for Niu Lang and Zhi Nu to meet each other. The Queen Mother was eventually moved and allowed them to meet each year on the 7th of the 7th lunar month. Hence their meeting date has been called Qi Xi (Double Seventh).This story, to some extent, reflects Ch

8、inese peoples wishes to pursue the freedom of love and marriage. The fairy tale also contains Chinese peoples understanding about star images. In the tale, the Weaving Girl Star (the Vega) is the brightest star in the constellation Lyra, facing the Cowherd Star (the Altair), the brightest star in th

9、e constellation Aquila, across the Milky Way.Folk Customs on the Double Seventh Day -Ingenuity test by floating needle（投针验巧） Ingenuity test by floating needle is one of the common customs on the festival. Put some water in a vessel and leave it in the open air until it is covered by a film of dust.

10、Then cast a needle or thin straw on it to see the pattern of the shadow at the bottom, so as to test their ingenuity Cobweb as the Determinant（喜蛛应巧） Pleading for skills with cobweb is another common custom in the festival, in which everybody puts a spider into a locket and waits until the next morni

11、ng to see if there is cobweb and if any, how it looks. The one with a most round cobweb of the most mesh will be the winner. Qiaoguo(巧果) Qiaoguo（Fried Thin Pastes）is in different shapes with the materials mostly being oil, flour, sugar and honey. The deft hands will nip them into all shapes related
