The topics of that unit are the development of life, space travel and gravity which students should learn mor

3、e about by reading and discussing the offered articles. For example, the question the earth may become too hot for the lives on it. Then what will our future be? can arouse students interests on astronomy and environmental problems. Then, students can assume some situation when men land on the moon,

4、 which can be produced an article.Firstly, students in the part Warming Up can be grouped to have a discussion about astronomy and to learn some vocabularies such as the names of our solar system eight planets circle around the sun, which arouse their interests to astronomy.Secondly, students in the

5、 part Pre-Reading should know the basic thing of science and religion by some stories about origin of species which stimulate students interested in knowledge and active students thinking of flowers and imagination.Thirdly, Reading part describe the origin of life. The water which gave birth to the

6、life on the earth made earth different from other planets. According to the scientists thought, life on the earth comes from water. Millions of years later, green plants began to grow on land. They were followed in time by land animals. Some were insects. Others, called amphibians, were able to live

7、 on land as well as in the water. Later when the plants grew into forests, reptiles appeared for the first time. They produced young generally by laying eggs. And the disappearance of dinosaurs made possible the rise of mammals on the earth which gave birth to young baby animals and produced milk to

8、 feed them. In the end of that passage, there comes a compelling global problem that the earth may become too hot for the lives on it.Fourthly, teacher in part Comprehending can know whether students understand the topic which includes the conditions of origin of life by some exercise. Finally, leav

9、ing two questions exam the students ability of comprehension and deduction.Fifthly, the part Using Language includes Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing. Part Listening describes 3 great scientists. Students in this part can temper the abilities to capture details by multiple choice and filling

10、 in the blanks. Part Reading is a science fiction story about the theory of weight, zero gravity and gravity. The topic of part Speaking is visiting the moon. Students in part Writing should find some difficulties and solutions when men land on the moon. This part can improve students ability of lis

11、tening, reading, writing and speaking and cultivate their consciousness of innovation.Period 2 Reading-How Life Began on the EarthII. Teaching aims1.
