A video game is a form of computer-based entertainment software, either textual or image-based, using any electronic platform such as personal computers or consoles and involving one or multiple players in a physical or networked environment. 5、eo games hold common elements and can be classified into different genres, or types of games. The most common elements include conflict, rules, player ability and valued outcome, such as winning or losing. Video games are commonly classified into seven major categories: 1. 6、iving and Racing 3. First-Person shooter 4. Platform and Puzzle 5. Role-playing 6. Strategy and Simulation 7. Sports and Beat-me-ups Good-quality video games offer lots of benefits to kids. They can: provide a fun and social form of entertainment; encourage teamwork and cooperation when played with
7、others; increase childrens self-confidence and self-esteem; develop skills in problem-solving and improve eye-hand coordination. However, parents should be aware of the following issues related to this highly interactive form of entertainment. Think about your childrens interests when looking for ga
8、mes. Talk to other parents for advice and suggestions of good games. Find games that are appropriate for your child. But be aware that even games with the seemingly favorable rating can still contain a great deal of violence. Look for games that are challenging and exciting without violence. Video g
9、ame manufacturers create violent games to satisfy childrens need. Try to find games that offer kids thrills and the chance to experience control in a non-violent way. Find games that require strategies and problem-solving skills. If they have an educational component, thats a bonus. When choosing ga
10、mes for girls, look for ones that have strong, non-stereotypical female characters. Video games are expensive, so make sure the game has good play value before you buy. lLook for games that involve two players to encourage cooperative play and to make game-playing a social activity. Early games were
11、 extremely simplistic in their design, but modern technology has turned video games into masterpieces of plot, character and visual graphics. The future of video games looks even brighter thanks to technological advances that have made the latest generation of games incredibly realistic, with images
