1、Festivals in ChinaGood afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I have taught English in a primary school for ten years, and I think its easy to be a teacher but its difficult to be a good teacher. So its really a good opportunities for me to stand here to improve myself.I will divide my instruction into ei

2、ght parts:they are Teaching material Analysis, Teaching aims, Teaching emphasis, Teaching difficulties, Teaching methods, Studying method, Teaching aids and Teaching procedures.Part 1 Teaching material analysisIm going to talk about the topic”Festivals in China” It comes from Oxford English 6A,Modul

3、e3 Unit3. Its the second period in this unit, the period one has given a brief introduction of one festival. The Ss have had a general idea about this topic. So this period is focus on knowing this topic more deeper and improving the Ssabilities of oral expression. Thats to say let the Ss know and i

4、ntroduce festivals to each other. We all know that students need a real situation to communicate. This lesson provides a good atmosphere. So its play an important role in the whole teaching procedure.Considering the National Standard Curriculum, the analysis of teaching material and the levels of th

5、e students I design the following teaching aim. Part 2 Teaching aim1Aims of the knowledge:(1)To know the spelling of some words and usage of some phrases: Chinese New Year, Dragon Boat Festival, watch Dragon Boat races and so on.(2)To learn the sentence patterns “Soon it will be Chinese New Year, it

6、s cold and snowy in February . I like this festival best” Make sure that Ss can use these sentences in real situations.(3)To grasp the main idea of the text and use the information to talk to others about ones favorite festival.2Aims of the abilities:(1)To develop the Ss abilities of listening and s

7、peaking.(2)To train the Ss abilities of working in groups.3Aims of the emotion: To develop Ss interests in English and through this topic let the Ss know more culture of our country.Set up their self-confidence in language study by speaking English and form good English speaking habit.Considering te

8、aching material and the psychological characteristics of the students, I make up the teaching emphasis.Part 3 Teaching emphasis1Master the expression of important words 2. Study and use the sentence patterns “soon it will be Chinese New Year, its snowy in February”Part 4 Teaching difficultiesCommuni

9、cate with others about this topic.And I will take the following methods to fulfill my teaching aims.Part 5 Teaching methodsAccording to the modern teaching theories, I adopt the Total Situational Action and Task-based Teaching method and direct-vision method, take the student as the main body, this

10、topic as a core, and the language function as the master line, take the duty activity as the medium, causes the classroom to live, lets study be vivid, thus achieves the above knowledge and the skill goal. ?In this topic, I will use five-step Teaching Method and Task-based language Teaching. I desig

11、n some tasks to help the students learn. I think if I want to improve the students oral English, I should give them enough chances to practice and I will use pair work, group work to let the students take an active part in all kinds of activities. That is “Learning by doing, learning by using”. Let

12、the students be the masters of the class teaching, thus, student-centered teaching method is well shown.Part 6 Studying methodsLet the Ss study in a relaxed and happy atmosphere. Ss understand the new knowledge. Ss can see, hear, say, observe, imagine, think etc. After feeling and comprehending the

13、language points, Ss can obtain the knowledge actively by probe study and cooperative study. Thereby, develop the Ss abilities of studying and working with the learning language independently.Teaching aids:And in this lesson slide show,card, poster, tape recorder , blackboard will be needed.Part 7 Te

14、aching procedureI will state my design from the following steps: warming-up and revision, presentation, consolidation, extension and homework.Educator Leo Tolstoy said: The successful teaching must not mandatory, but rather to stimulate students interest, so cultivate their interests in the key poin

15、t.”Step 1.Warming-up and revision “Well begun, half done”. First Teacher and the Ss sing a song before learning lesson. According to the characteristics of children,sing a song can make them feel happy, and can arouse exciting emotion. Then Ill give them an “IQ Challenge”by showing several words and

16、 let them guess which festival is it. The purpose is to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss and it provides situations to review learned knowledge for the next step.Step 2.Presentation1. First there is song between teacher and Ss. I show many pictures of dumplings ,lanterns and ask

17、 Ss questions like this: “what can you see? What can you thing of?”After seeing let Ss find the topic “festivals” by themselves and sing songs of festivals together.By the way , I give Ss a quick show of many festivals and the related weather help Ss master the main information.2. With the help of t

18、he slide show, I set a situation to help Ss understand the way of using the key sentences . Elicit Ss to say “Soon it will be . Ins snowy in . People do.Step 3. ConsolidationFirst, use teaching card to practice new words.Then, play a guessing game. Lu Xun said: The game is childs angel. This part wi

19、ll totally arose Ss interests and they can learn new knowledge through playing.The third, listening and fill in the blanks. The purpose is to improve their ability of hearing. This is very important for the pupils in primary school.The last, do a poster and play out the topic. Here group work and task-based teaching method is used. Teacher should encourage Ss to perform happily. Train students t
