Whod like to give us some examples about the parts? S2: Some phrases, idioms, clauses and so on.T: Quite good. In English we call them “sense group” It means each group is relative independent or acts as the same function all together in the whole sentences. When we read the long sentences, we should pause at the end of each sense group. Now lets take one sentence in Activity 1 for example.Write down the sentence on the blackboard.T: Can you tell me something about the boats? In this sentence, we can divide it into two parts. “Can you tell me” and “something about the boats”, in which the second part acts as the object of the whole sentence. So we need to pause at the end of a sense group. You shouldnt pause in the middle of a sense group. Are you clear?Ss: Yes, Sir / Madam.T: Now lets practise Activity 1. Please try to repeat the questions, paying attention to the sense groups.T: Now lets practise Activity 2.
